India won by 59 runs (DLS method - 2nd inn reduced to 46 overs due to rain - target 270)

India have taken a 1-0 lead. With a game to go, they can't lose the series now. Windies on the other hand have a lot of questions staring them. But these questions have been on loop for a while now. None of their batters showed application to bat through and that again cost them. Their batting in ODIs works on the if and while loop. If there is pressure while batting, they collapse. But when would they come out of this self created rut? Anytime sooner will be entertaining. Keep flipping tabs to soak in more cricketing action as we exit the comm box. This is Kumar Abhisekh Das signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy, MS Ramakrishnan, Varun Dikshit and Naga.
Virat Kohli, Man of the Match: Good outing with the bat. Exactly why we wanted to bat first. If you saw the later half of the West Indies innings, it was difficult to bat on. I think the rain in between helped them else it would have been tough to bat in the middle overs. We knew that anything over 270 would be challenging. Feels good to get a hundred when the team wanted me to get one. Shikhar and Rohit didn't get a big one. One of the top three has always got the big one. A senior man had to step up and today was my opportunity to step up. It was important to string in a lot of dot balls. The batting became a little easy thanks to the rain when Hetymer and Pooran were batting together. It was tough gripping the ball when it went into the outfield. It was about staying in there and hoping one wicket will put pressure on them and luckily we got the wickets. The number of left-handers work in favour of Kuldeep and that's why we went in with him rather than Chahal. He is more lethal against the left-handers because of his variations and the lines that he bowls to them. Kedar was precise as well. With the number of left-handers, you want to go with a chinaman bowler rather than a leggie. With Jadeja playing, it helps our balance. He (Iyer) is a very confident guy and has the right attitude. Really got the tempo going and took the pressure of me. After I got out, he got the extra runs as well.
Jason Holder: Extremely disappointing. We bowled really well and the game was in our hands. We lost crucial wickets at the back end to lose the game. We need to take responsibility. We need to take the game deep. The pitch was pretty good but the bowlers despite the humid conditions did well. The batters have to take the responsibility. They have been letting us down far too often.
Shreyas Iyer - It was a fruitful day. I knew I was going to do well, I played for India A and I played in these grounds, paced my innings well and think it went well. I decided that I wouldn't take any risks, Virat told me that we needed to build a partnership and take the innings deep. He supported me very well, we took the ones and twos, hit the boundaries when it came. We decided 250 was a good score, obviously we got 30 runs extra. He told me to bat at least until the 45th over, I am thankful for what I managed. I want to stay in the team for a while, the consistency is always important, I want to play well and contribute to the team.
18:13 Local Time, 22:13 GMT, 03:43 IST: Another professional effort from the Indians. But then they were stretched for a decent period of time while defending. The hosts were 148 for 3 before a spell of wickets turned the game upside down. They were all of a sudden reduced to 182 for 8 and India closed it out post that. This after India had 279 on the board thanks to a Kohli masterclass. Windies though fought back in the final 10 overs of the Indian innings as India threatening to breach the 300 mark couldn't even touch 280. Brief spells of rain hampered the game and the second innings was reduced to 46 overs with 270 being the revised target. Indian bowlers especially Bhuvneshwar had a field day as he ended up scalping four wickets. But the wickets of Pooran and Chase in one over literally killed the game off.

Shami to Thomas, out Lbw!! India win! Take a 1-0 lead. That was full, tailed in a bit and Thomas was caught dead in front of the sticks. The umpire thought about it a bit and then raised his finger to signal the end of the contest. Windies didn't have a review and that was it. Thomas lbw b Shami 0(1)
Shami to Thomas, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
Shami to Holder, 1 run, full toss and has been driven down to long-off for a single
Shami to Holder, no run, full toss on the pads and has been tucked to deep square. Holder refuses to take a single
Oshane Thomas, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Shami to Cottrell, out Caught by Jadeja!! The short ball does it for Shami. Cottrell tried to pull it away, got a thickish top-edge and the man at point back-pedalled to take a very good catch. The ball bobbled once in his hands before he held on. India only a wicket away now. Good thinking from Shami who dished out a short ball outside off. Cottrell tried to drag it and paid the price for it. Cottrell c Jadeja b Shami 17(18) [4s-2 6s-1]
Shami to Cottrell, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Shami to Cottrell, FOUR, length delivery outside off and Cottrell didn't hold himself back. Clears his front foot and smashes it over the head of the mid-off fielder for a four
Shami to Holder, 1 run, in the blockhole and was tailing in late for Holder to get his feet out of the way and block it out into the off-side for a single. Kohli from covers came charging in but failed to stop the single
Mohammed Shami [7.0-0-33-0] is back into the attack

Bhuvneshwar
8-0-31-4
Bhuvneshwar to Cottrell, no run, and Bhuvneshwar makes it 5 out of 6 knuckle balls to end the over. Length but much slower and Cottrell was through with his shot much early to be beaten outside off
Bhuvneshwar to Holder, 1 run, another slower delivery and this was full outside off. Driven down to long-off for a single
Bhuvneshwar to Holder, 2 runs, the knuckle ball again tricks the batter and the slog luckily lands well short of the man at deep mid. Two more
Bhuvneshwar to Holder, no run, quickish length ball devoid of room and Holder inside edges the ball on to his body. 69 more needed off 33 balls
