Death, taxes and the Ash-Jaddu combo doing your team in on a sub-continentesque pitch - the three certainties of life. A roaring comeback for Ashwin after he was dropped for the WTC Final as he registered his best figures away from home. But this Test will be more memorable for a 21-year-old debutant. The boy from Mumbai, making his debut some 12000 miles away from home, looking at home in Test cricket. An almost flawless, gritty daddy hundred from the southpaw - surely the first of many. India keep churning out new gems from their unending talent factory. That’s all for this game, a longer rest than expected now before we are back on the 20th. This is Saurabh Shankar, signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Anurag Hedge and Harish!!

Rohit Sharma: Every run you score for the country is important. I would like to start by saying it was a great effort with the ball. Getting them out for 150 set the game for us. We knew batting would get tough, it wasn't easy to score runs. We knew we wanted to bat only once and bat long. Get over 400 runs and then we came out and bowled really well. (On Jaiswal) He has the talent, he has shown us in the past that he is ready. Came and batted sensibly. The temperament was also tested, at no stage he was panicking. The chats we had were to remind him that 'you belong here. You have done the hard yards, enjoy your time here'. (On the declaration) I was just letting them know we have an over or so before declaring. I wanted Ishan to get off the mark, wanted to tell him to get his personal mark and then we had to declare. I could see that he was always eager to bat, it could be frustrating for them. (On Ashwin and Jadeja) The results speak for themselves, they have been doing it for a while. There isn't much to tell them, it is about giving them the freedom to express. The experience these guys have on pitches like this is always a luxury. Both Ash and Jadeja were superb, specially Ashwin for coming out and bowling this way was class. Always nice to start well, it is a fresh cycle. We weren't too worried about the pitch, we wanted to come here and get results. Important to start well, now about taking that momentum into the 2nd Test. There are a couple of new guys and people who haven't had much Test cricket, so just about getting them out on the field now.
Yashasvi Jaiswal | Player of the Match: Preparation was pretty good. We were having a nice session. Spoke a lot to Rahul Dravid sir. Would like to thank all the selectors and Rohit (Sharma) bhai for having faith in me. It's really nice, I have been working for this. I've been focusing on preparing well and having discipline. Playing Test cricket for India is very special and emotional for me. This is just the start, I need to keep my focus and keep working on my cricket. Lot of people helped me through my journey and I want to thank each and everyone of them. It was tremendous batting with the senior players. I look forward to learning more from them.
Kraigg Brathwaite: I really want to thank the Dominica crowd for coming out. It was playing quite good on day one, we let ourselves down with the bat. It wasn't spinning a lot. What disappointed me was I ddn't get any runs. It is my job to lead from the front. First innings, we lost too many wickets, and as a senior guy I didn't lead the way. (On playing Ashwin and Jaddu) It is tough, they have good fields set. You need to have the right balance between defending and trying to score. We didn't execute the shots we wanted to, and we need to learn to use the bat more. (On Athanaze) He had a very good start, the way he batted he showed he loves playing. He did a job for us with the ball as well. His future is bright and he has a strong mind. He will do a lot for West Indies cricket.
17:15 Local Time, 21:15 GMT, 02:45 IST: So a convincing 3-day victory for India and they start their #WTC25 campaign with 12 points in their kitty. It was never in doubt to be fair - West Indies won a good toss and then wasted it by attempting too many shots, 150 was a paltry score on a first day pitch and as it turned out, it was the best batting conditons of the match that was wasted by the hosts. Yashashvi Jaiswal showed up the folly with a patiently constructed 171 on debut, Rohit Sharma made 103 and Virat Kohli scratched around for 76. A surprise declaration today at 421 for 5, a healthy first innings lead of 271 and it was only a matter of time from there on. The hosts did try to show some patience in their second dig, but they were outclassed by Ravi Ashwin on a deteriorating pitch. Turn, bounce and bite - too much to ask for the hosts with only Alick Athanaze once again looking solid and composed. Still, they'd have envisioned hopes of taking this Test to the 4th day, but Ashwin statpadded himself to 7 wickets and spelt doom for the Windies. There will be talks about this pitch, this one was certainy gift wrapped to Ashwin and Jadeja. Will we see a better contest at Port-of-Spain? Back shortly for the presentation..
Ashwin to Warrican, out Lbw!! Warrican has been given OUT LBW and he's reviewed it. Has he gloved this? Was shaping for the reverse sweep and there's a flat line on UltraEdge. Onto ball-tracking and it returns three reds, 7 for 71 for Ashwin and India win by an innings and 141 runs. Was nicely tossed up by Ashwin, slower and on middle, Warrican was looking for runs, plays the reverse sweep and missed, pretty straightforward call for umpire Richard Kettleborough.
