That is it from game 2 of this bilateral series. Ireland fielded a pretty strong XI. England fielded a newish XI but were still pretty good to come out victorious. Speaks volumes about the bench strength that they have. Ireland will have one more chance to flex their muscles and maybe settle the scores. But that will happen in a couple of days. Bye bye for now...
Crawley: Couple of standout performances with the bat and the ball. We were about par. We got a good score. We were brave in the bowling department. Really impressed with the way Scrimshaw bounced back. Tough day for him. The spinners bowled well. You have to give people a chance.
Stirling: We just couldn't rack up in the first 40 odd minutes. We have another game. The wicket wasn't tough to score. 330 seemed a par score. Last game of the season before we get a break. The energy levels should be up. We were on top for a few moments. Dockrell had a good game with the bat and the ball.
Jacks, Player of the Match: We got off to a great start. They didn't quite bowl well at the start. But once they found their lengths, wasn't easy. We don't play loads of 50 over cricket. I was learning during the innings. We thought we had a very good score. But we weren't perfect. Tried to keep it as simple as we can. Always nice to score some runs. Great opportunity for us with the WC guys resting. Great feeling to be playing for England.
18:26 Local Time, 17:26 GMT, 22:56 IST: England at first piled up the runs and have then defended it well despite fielding no one from their WC squad. Jacks and Hain came good with the bat and with the ball, it was Rehan Ahmed who picked up a four-fer in the game. Scrimshaw had a poor start to his career as he bowled a lot of no-balls. But came back well and ended up with a three-fer. Ireland would be gutted as they really had a genuine chance of tracking this down as shown by the lower-order batters. Stirling, Tector, Campher, all got in but got out and that didn't help the cause of the Irish unit. Good outing for most of the English players as they managed to contribute in some way or the other. But one thing which stood was the fielding of the hosts. They picked up some good catches to ensure Ireland were always behind in the chase.
Scrimshaw to Joshua Little, out Caught by Brydon Carse!! And finds Carse at long-on. The resistance of the lower order has finally ended. Was a fuller ball, Joshua Little backed away and looked to heave it down the ground. But he ended up finding the man at long-on. That's all over. England have won the second ODI.
