That's a wrap to this Test match that went as fast as a Formula One car. It was action-packed from the outset and at one point, we did expect history to be created at Lord's. England quashed all of that and once again ended on the right side of things at this venue in a space of two weeks. And that was one ruthless finish from them. They do still have some problems to address with the Ashes around the corner. Despite the hammering today, Ireland can take some positives out of the game and look to build further as a Test team. That's all from us as far as this game is concerned. You can switch tabs to enjoy the SL-BAN ODI if you want to. This is Hari Sadanandan signing off on behalf of my mates Akshay Maanay, Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Kumar Abhisekh Das, Vineet Anantharaman and Vinod. Cheers!!
Man of the Match: Jack Leach for his nightwatchman performance with the bat, notching up 92 precious runs. Who would have thought that he would get a MoM award in a Test for his batting? He himself can't believe it. No telecast of the presentation ceremony by the broadcaster, hence we aren't able to bring you the quotes.

Ireland will be hurting. No doubt at all. Murtagh's exemplary spell on day one and the Balbirnie-Stirling partnership had put them on course for a match-winning lead. However, Stone and Broad helped England reduce the deficit and then, a fantastic partnership between Leach and Roy allowed the hosts to gain stability. That stand and their contributions now look even more invaluable, given how things panned out after their dismissals. Equally priceless were the cameos from Curran and Broad. The psychological difference that a target of 180-plus makes from a seemingly 130-odd score is immense. That swung the momentum England's way and with the pitch having gotten conducive for seam bowling, Ireland were always going to be under the pump. In the end, they were shredded to pieces.
13:58 Local Time, 12:58 GMT, 18:28 IST: Those who went for an outing seeing the rain delay earlier today are bound to be in for a massive shock. Ireland had hope, a realistic one at that, of securing their maiden Test win and when they got past the last wicket off the first ball of the morning, things looked good. However, with all the overnight rain and more today, the surface and overhead conditions suited England perfectly, making that target of 182 look much bigger. Woakes and Broad ran riot, finishing things between them itself as Ireland got wrecked by a display of world-class seam bowling. A crazy finish to the game that started in similarly bizarre fashion on the first day. To sum things, we saw 40 wickets falling in just 170-odd overs. Would you believe it? England were threatened big time but they found ways to fight back and eventually, their new-ball duo just wiped off Ireland with brutality.
Woakes to Murtagh, out Bowled!! Woakes completes the 143-run hammering! Ruthless and clinical from the hosts. With Murtagh swinging at everything, this wasn't unexpected. Woakes kept it full and straight, and once the tailender missed, it was always going to destroy the furniture. Leg stump ripped out. Murtagh b Woakes 2(5)
Woakes to Murtagh, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!
Woakes to Murtagh, no run, another short ball, follows Murtagh who backs away to pull and then is forced to bail out
Woakes to Murtagh, no run, dug in short and Murtagh backs away for the pull, only to miss it completely
Woakes to Murtagh, 2 runs, uppish but ends up falling in no man's land at deep point. Murtagh makes room to slash it away and ends up getting a big slice on it

Broad to Rankin, no run, very full and outside off, dug out towards extra cover
Broad to Rankin, no run, spilled well down leg as Broad tries to follow Rankin who was backing away
Broad to Rankin, no run, another whoooooosh from Rankin but to no avail. On a length just around off, Rankin tries to slog in vain
Root opts for a fly slip.
Broad to Rankin, no run, another swing and a miss! Broad has a wry smile on his face! Length ball once more, Rankin clears his front leg for the hoick but misses it totally
Broad to Rankin, no run, that wasn't far away from the stumps! Broad has a childish look on his face. Rankin backed away really early for the slog and Broad followed him. The southpaw couldn't connect
Boyd Rankin, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Broad to Andy McBrine, out Caught by Root!! Four for Broad. Four for Root. England are one wicket away now. It is that channel from Broad which is causing all sorts of problems. Full and in the corridor, there is away seam movement as well, McBrine had to play since it was the round the wicket angle from Broad, he prods forward and only manages an outside edge to first slip. Another good low grab from the England skipper. Andy McBrine c Root b Broad 0(2)
