West Indies won by 5 wkts

That's a wrap to our coverage for this game. Ireland need to improve their batting if they have to compete on this tour because West Indies have a good attack for these conditions. Hopefully, the next ODI is more competitive. On that note, this is Hari Sadanandan signing off on behalf of my mates Varun Dixit and Venky. Cheers!
Joseph, Player of the Match: It is a really good start to the year. I have been training hard and looking to concentrate hard. Everyone in the coaching staff are helpful and I turn to them for advice. I had an idea of how to bowl to these guys and just kept it simple. Everyone in the camp is supportive. Personally, I just want to stay focussed on my game and do whatever the captain asks me to do.
19:35 Local Time, 23:35 GMT, 05:05 IST: A comfortable win for the Windies although they did lose a few more wickets than they would have liked. 181 was never a daunting target and the Lewis-King partnership put them on track with the former batting all the way through till the end. There was a mini-collapse due to some questionable shots from the middle order but West Indies were never really in trouble. Towards the end, the only question was whether Lewis could get to his hundred or not. And he almost did, before falling agonizingly short. Ireland will be disappointed. Their batting let them down and West Indies deserve credit for their fine collective bowling performance, led by Joseph.
McCarthy to Lewis, FOUR, almost a six! almost! But it's just on the bounce as it crashes into the fence and Lewis is on his knees in minimal despair. I say minimal because WI have romped home by five wickets! Was in the slot for the big shot and Lewis went over extra cover with the lot. Nearly went all the way. Never mind, still is a fab knock from the opener
McCarthy to Lewis, 2 runs, there is that brace, tick! Shorter and outside off, Lewis cuts it late to place this behind point. A couple more as third man tidies up. Pollard has a word with Lewis now. Scores level!
Right, so for Lewis to get to that century he wants, he'll have to ideally get a brace and then smash a six. Oh, these sub-plots!

Rankin to Pollard, no run, fuller and Pollard walks into the defensive push towards cover
Kieron Pollard, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Rankin to Roston Chase, out Caught by Lorcan Tucker!! Steepler from Rankin and it sends Chase packing. Was banged in on a shorter length and bounced extra after pitching. The line meant that Chase couldn't really get out of the way once he reacted late and could only get a bit of glove on this. Regulation take for the keeper. Roston Chase c Lorcan Tucker b Rankin 19(26) [4s-2]
Rankin to Roston Chase, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Rankin to Roston Chase, no run, shorter again, middle and leg, Chase shuffles a bit and taps this to mid-wicket
Rankin to Roston Chase, no run, back of a length on middle and leg, Chase rocks back and blocks to mid-wicket
Rankin to Roston Chase, no run, shortish and outside off, Chase stays back and blocks towards gully
Rankin to Roston Chase, no run, dug in short on off stump, Chase sways away from the line of the bumper

Barry McCarthy
7-1-40-1
McCarthy to Lewis, no run, back of a length outside off, Lewis sits back and glides it to backward point who makes a half-stop. Lewis could have taken a single to get back on strike, if he wanted to get to that hundred
McCarthy to Roston Chase, 1 run, shorter and outside off, Chase dabs it away down to third man
McCarthy to Roston Chase, FOUR, fab shot! Overpitched from McCarthy and Chase leans into an exquisite cover drive. Everything textbook about the shot. Lewis didn't seem too chuffed about the stroke, he probably can't get to his century now
McCarthy to Roston Chase, no run, dug in short around off, Chase thought about the ramp but then let it pass
McCarthy to Roston Chase, wide, errs in line on the attempted yorker and feeds it well down the leg-side
McCarthy to Lewis, 1 run, banged in short around the hips, Lewis crouches a bit and pulls this away down to fine leg
