That is all from this never-ending (whoops - It just got over) ODI. It certainly did feel that long with a million dot balls and a couple of rain breaks in between. West Indies have sealed the series with a game to go. Both teams will now move onto National Cricket Stadium in St George's Grenada for the third and final ODI of the series. It's on Sunday and set to start @ 09:00 local. Do remember to tune in for that. Until next time, this is Raju Peethala wishing you goodbye on behalf of my colleagues: Rishi Roy, Abhinand Raghavendran and Venky. Have a great rest of the day folks, cheers!!
Alzarri Joseph | 4-32 and 16(26) | MoM: Relieved about the win. It's a team game, and we all put in the effort to win the game. It's not just me. The wicket was a little more even than the first game, so I had to assess early and execute. As I said, we have full support from the captain, coaching staff, and everyone. We just had to bat normally, because there were a lot of balls left. I was trying to play every ball on its merit, so if it was there to be hit, I was hitting it. We're very happy but there is still one more game to go.
21:53 Local Time, 01:53 GMT, 07:23 IST: If you're looking for one of those classic low-scoring ODI thrillers ala England - South Africa Chennai 2011, look no further. We've got one for this decade and this will be tough to top considering the number of momentum swings this game had to endure right from the onset. Chasing 238, West Indies got themselves into a bit of pickle at 76/4, but the experienced duo of Pollard and Pooran shared the resurrection duties and engineered a 64-run stand for the fifth wicket to inject life into the contest. Just when they seemed to have the chase in control, both Pooran and Pollard got dismissed in the space of 2 runs and what ensued was an absolute fantasy script. Khary Pierre and Alzarri Joseph nudged and nurdled their way to a 52-run 8th wicket stand to turn the tables in their favor and the amount of thrills and spills we witnessed in the final overs is one for the ages. The pendulum kept swinging to and fro and in the end, West Indies and Sheldon Cottrell held their nerve to seal a magnificent come-from-behind win, one that's gonna stay on top of ODI archives list in the years to come.
Mark Adair to Cottrell, SIX, throws the kitchen sink at a wide delivery and it's a maximum over sweeper cover. West Indies seal the series 2-0 with a game to go. The dressing room go bonkers and the crowd holler and jump in joy as Barbados catches it pulse. Phewf! What.A.Thriller
Mark Adair to Hayden Walsh, 1 run, comedy of errors! Full toss, carved away wide of extra cover and there's a huge mix-up between the batters. Cottrell was rushing back for the second but Hayden Walsh was ball-watching and had to scream his lungs out to usher his partner back to the batting end. The throw came in from long-off and the bowler failed to gather it cleanly. Cottrell slipped while turning back, but he had enough time to make his ground
Mark Adair to Cottrell, 1 run, is there a run out here? A couple of Ireland fielders are excited while one of them seems to have his hands on head. Did Mark Adair have the ball in his hand? He seems to have lost the grip but the ball was in contact with the stumps all the while and Cottrell was well short of his crease at the bowling end. The telly umpire has had a look at every possible angle and he reckons there isn't conclusive evidence to give it out. The only concern is whether the ball was in contact with the hand when the bails came off and no-one was sure. Cottrell hit this straight to mid-off and ran off for a quick single
Plenty of conflabs among the fielders and this game is getting stretched to the maximum
Mark Adair to Hayden Walsh, 1 run, full on leg-stump, Hayden Walsh drives hard and gets it off the thick toe-end down to long-on
Mark Adair to Hayden Walsh, no run, slower loopy full toss on off, Hayden Walsh gets across and drives straight and picks out the fielder at mid-off
Ah, how have we reached here? 5 runs for the Windies and one wicket for Ireland. Game on!!
