West Indies gain 10 World Cup Super League points and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Ireland were in the hunt for a major part of the match but couldn't seize the opportunity when they were ahead. Can they make amends and come out victorious in the next game? Join us on Tuesday for the second ODI. Until then, goodbye...

Kieron Pollard | West Indies captain: It was challenging, most important thing is getting the victory. When you look at it, toss is going to play a big factor in the entire series. There's a lot of moisture, Ireland used the conditions pretty well. We need to be aware of that and we need to be tighter and find ways to rotate the strike. That partnership with Brooks was needed. We left about 20-25 runs out there. We lost six wickets for 64 runs. That's something we need to look at. The bowlers did pretty well. The pitch dried out and it was a better batting track in the second innings. The guys stuck in the there, all the bowlers were fantastic today. I had to go to my best bowlers (at 165/1) to try and get the wicket or dry up the runs and put them on the back foot. That's exactly what happened and they lost a couple of wickets. It was the same trend in both the innings. We started off badly, ended up in a good position and then faltered. It was a similar trend in the way the Irish batted.

Andy Balbirnie | Ireland captain: I thought the fielding effort was pretty good. I think we could have been better with the ball and could have made them come forward more. It was a topsy turvy innings and we could not finish the game. Myself and Harry got out and that changed the game, one of us should have batted through. Not to get over the line is difficult to take but we have two more games to play. There was a bit of pressure building but we were playing so nicely and I was done in by a good slower ball and it is never easy for a new batter to start. There has been a lot of distraction off the field and Andy (McBrine) took a blow, he didn't pass his concussion test and hence we had to put in Neil Rock.

Shamarh Brooks | Player of the Match: Bit of both (happy and sad). Happy with the start we got, then lost a few wickets and I had to stitch a partnership with the skipper. For me it is about getting an opportunity, I enjoy playing the longer format but I had a good tour of Pakistan, so happy to come back here and contribute. They bowled well at the start but as things went on it got better.

17:52 Local Time, 22:52 GMT, 04:22 IST: After losing Porterfield in the second over, Balbirnie was involved in a couple of half-ton partnerships (McBrine and Tector). Unfortunately, McBrine retired out with concussion and couldn't take any further action. That's when the captain joined hands with Harry Tector. 36 overs into the chase, the game was in the balance, or perhaps the visitors were slightly ahead, with the duo notching up their respective half-centuries. The Irish skipper fell to Romario Shepherd, Harry Tector perished in the very next over and Ireland never recovered. While their batters faltered in the second half of the innings, the hosts's bowlers fought back strongly in the latter part of the innings. Shepherd and Joseph picked three wickets apiece and Akeal Hosein bowled a miserly spell. Earlier, West Indies posted a decent score on the back of a 150+ partnership between captain Pollard and debutant Brooks. Stay tuned for the presentations..
