So disappointment for Ireland who would have hoped to gotten through against Bangladesh by winning the series 3-0. But once again the notorious UK weather has spoiled their plans. The 2nd ODI of this series takes place on Friday the 12th of May. We will be there to bring you all the action. Till then take care and be safe. Come back here for all the action. Time to say bye bye and escape. See you soon.

19:03 Local Time, 18:03 GMT, 23:33 IST: And that's the end. The match has been called off. South Africa now have officially qualified for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Ireland will have to go through the qualifiers route. Once the rain set in according to the forecast there was no turning back. Accompanied by lightning and thunder and the umpires were forced to call it off even though only 3.3 overs were left for the game to be official. They couldn't get back to fit that in even. Earlier in the day, Ireland did well to restrict Bangladesh to 246/9 on the back of good seam bowling with Josh Little and Mark Adair sharing 5 wickets among themselves. For Bangladesh Mushfiqur top-scored with 61 helped by Shanto's 44. In reply Bangladesh's seamers reduced Ireland to 63/3 and the game was nicely poised when the rain came down.

18:30 Local Time, 17:30 GMT, 23:00 IST: It has gotten a bit brighter but the rain is still coming down and live visuals show puddles being formed on the outfield. Not sure how good the drainage at the venue is.

18:18 Local Time, 17:18 GMT, 22:48 IST: More thunder. More rain. Same covers on.

17:57 Local Time, 16:57 GMT, 22:27 IST: We should have official confirmation soon. Hang on folks. The skies have turned a lot lot darker.

17:48 Local Time, 16:48 GMT, 22:18 IST: No breakthrough as the covers are in place. It has gotten a whole lot darker and one can hear the rumbling of thunder in the background. This game looks to be done. Just waiting for an official confirmation.

17:16 Local Time, 16:16 GMT, 21:46 IST: Live pictures show the covers firmly in place and the rain is coming down again. Not good news.

16:50 Local Time, 15:50 GMT, 21:20 IST: The bigger white sheets are being brought in to cover the outfield as the rain gets heavier. That's bad news for Ireland and wonderful for South Africa.

For now it is just drizzling but the groundstaff get the big covers on.

16:34 Local Time, 15:34 GMT, 21:04 IST: And here comes the rain. Off go the players. Dark clouds and the forecast has come true. We need 20 overs though to constitute a game. So if we don't get any play in, then it will be a no-result which won't help Ireland at all. The covers are on.

16.3

Ebadot Hossain to Tector, no run, short and down leg, left alone

16.2

Ebadot Hossain to Tector, no run, Mushfiqur has wasted a review here. He was the one who convinced Tamim for the review. A big nipbacker from Ebadot, Tector shuffles across outside off and misses the forward defence, large deviation but there is a big gap between bat and ball as UltraEdge shows. And for LBW - the impact is well outside off. Mushi got excited on hearing the two noises and costs his side

Big appeal for a caught behind and not given. Bangladesh review. Miles between bat and ball. And the impact is outside off. What a poor review

16.1

Ebadot Hossain to Tucker, 1 run, fullish outside off, Tucker shuffles across and clips through square leg

The rain seems imminent now and Ireland need to be at 90 at this stage on DLS. They are 26 behind on par.
