So, that's it from us for today! Join us on Sunday to catch the final ODI at The Wanderers on 2nd April. Let's hope it is a much more closely fought contest. For now, you can switch tabs and catch some high voltage action from the first game of IPL this season. This is Abhinav Guha signing off on behalf of Anurag Hegde and Mukesh. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Temba Bavuma: It was a clinical performance. As a team, we kept our shape and control. Bowling them out for 189 was good. It is a big confidence booster for Shamsi. We still back him as our match-winner. The thing for him is to keep going. Challenging himself with his lines. I am just enjoying my game. There's a certain level of backing and confidence. It's about time that guys will match their game. It is a matter of being clear and enjoying the game.
Sisanda Magala | Player of the Match: Keeping it as simple as possible. That was my role today. I like to vision what I want to achieve during the day. It is important to keep a positive mindset. The nerves are always there. The team environment is very welcoming and I really like it. There's a level of calmness in the team. We are heading in a good direction. (On his upcoming first IPL stint) I am excited on that opportunity but I am really nervous. It would be the longest that I will be away from home, tomorrow is a packing day.
Scott Edwards: It was a good start but we have got to go on with it from there. 189 was always going to be below the mark and we had to bowl exceptionally which didn't happen. We have had a lot of decent innings but we need guys to start going on and get big hundreds. It is a chance for us to come back and show what we are made of on Sunday.
18:58 Local Time, 16:58 GMT, 22:28 IST: South Africa have coasted to the finish line with 120 balls to spare. The fist pump after hitting the winning runs shows how much this win meant to Bavuma and his side. Chasing 190, SA lost de Kock early as Aryan Dutt got the better of him. After that, van der Dussen joined Bavuma and they took their time initially. Once they got their eye in, they put the bad balls away and kept the scoreboard ticking. They stitched a 70-run stand for the second wicket and that was enough to completely take the pressure off them. van der Dussen was outfoxed by Klaassen but the damage was already done by then. Markram came in after that and played fluently from the word go. Bavuma also kept finding the boundaries at will and both of them ensured that there were no more hiccups. Their unbeaten 102-run stand led the Proteas to a crucial victory. Earlier, Netherlands had got off to a good start but the SA bowlers pulled it back through some disciplined and smart bowling. 189 was never going to be enough against a strong South African batting line-up. This win was very important as SA keep their chances strong to earn a direct qualification to the ODI World Cup which will take place later this year. Stick around for the presentations..
