And that's all, ladies and gentlemen, we have from this super thriller. Steven Smith was OUT lbw on 13 (NZ didn't review), but little did New Zealand know about what was to unfold. Smith made the Kiwis pay - with the bat, with his canny field placings and a blinder of catch to underscore what has been a dream day for him in the field. Join us on Tuesday to catch all the action from the second ODI. Canberra it will be. Have fun and enjoy the weekend. Cheers!!

Smith: "I got a bit of luck (about his innings), I was out LBW at one point. It was a nice total. I think the boys did a good job. You've got to set the standards (about the catch). I fell on my face and bit of hurt my jaw. It was a pretty crucial period. He (Pat Cummins) came back well, probably a bit nervous. He (Travis Head) played well and is an improving talent. We've been disappointing in the last couple of months. Still got to come back harder and hopefully, we've got to keep the momentum going. The guys have been good."

Steven Smith - who now holds the record for highest individual ODI score at the SCG - 164 - has been adjudged as the Man of the Match

KW: "That's right. We probably bowled poorly. Lot of credit to Steve Smith. Always tough to chase a total above 300. I think we were good in patches, not so in some. He (Steve Smith) upped the ante with Travis Head and that took the game away from us. A fantastic hundred from Guptill, one of his better ones. It is important to take positives going into the next game and we are looking forward to it."

22:05 Local Time: Captain Smith leads his troops off the field. KW congratulates the Aussie skipper as the players engage in the pat-and-hug dance. A resounding win for Australia, given the fidgety start with the bat. Lost 4 wickets, came out all guns blazing led by Steve Smith. Head, Wade had their own share of fun. With the ball, they stuck to basics and bowled tight lines to nip out a couple of early wickets. Guptill, however, carried hopes of the Kiwis with a blistering knock but couldn't get strong support from the other end - which inflicted a middle-order collapse. Munro, after a rusty start, changed gears, but was left too much to do towards the end.

Mitchell Marsh to Lachie Ferguson, out Bowled!! What a fitting finish to the game. DRAGGED ON - has been a day of inside edges - first and last wickets of the game succumb to inside-edges. Australia win by 68 runs and go 1-0 up in the series. No feet from Ferguson, meekly gropes at a inducker and ends up dragging it back onto the timbers. Lachie Ferguson b Mitchell Marsh 0(3)
