Cricket is such a funny game. Couple of weeks back everyone thought Australian cricket was in shambles and now, they have won a Test against South Africa and brushed New Zealand aside in the ODI series. It will be interesting to see how they go against Pakistan. That still has some time though. For now, you can switch over to the India-England game and catch the Indian innings. Goodbye!
Smith: "Wasn't a bad one, nice way to finish [referring to his catch]. We put complete performance in all three games. We needed something like this after South Africa. Guys in the top four going on to get hundreds and bowlers executing the plans [on what went right]. We did the basics right in the series. The three fast bowlers have bowled well in the series and good to see Pat (Cummins) back in the team and performing."
KW: "Very good [Australia's performance]. They were good in all departments. They had batsmen scoring hundreds in all three games. Today was a bit more disappointing. We had to play very well to chase, but it was gettable. We needed partnerships but it was a tough wicket to bat on. Credit to Warner for scoring 150+ on that wicket. Would like to thank the supporters, who came all the way to back us."
David Warner- Man of the Match and Series: "It is always special to put runs on the board. Credit to the bowlers for executing the plans. Little bit tired. My first coach, until I was 16-17 passed away and I will catch up with his family once I get home [regarding his black armband]. I have to keep working harder."
New Zealand have been outbatted. Outbowled. Outfielded. The 3-0 scoreline does justice to the way Australia played in the series. After a solid start, Tom Latham succumbed in the same way as Steven Smith - flicked one to backward square. Williamson and Guptill had to shoulder the chase, but the duo fell in quick succession. After that it was a procession which New Zealand could not stop. All the Australian bowlers were among the wickets, with Starc being the pick with three wickets.
P Cummins to Boult, out Caught by Smith!! Stunner! Australia win by 117 runs and complete a 3-0 whitewash. "It had to finish just like that," reckons Ian Smith on air. Steven Smith at it again. The slower off-cutter from Cummins, Boult makes room and attempts a steer to third man, the outside edge flies to the right of second slip, Smith dives full length and plucks it with one hand. It was very much similar to the one he took at SCG. Just that this came a tad slower than the one Watling hit. Boult c Smith b P Cummins 1(7)
