Wow that was special. If that's how England are going to play their cricket under Stokes and McCullum, then it's going to be quite a ride. That's all from this incredible day at Trent Bridge. It's a goodbye from Sagar Chawla on behalf of Praveen and Srivathsa.
Jonny Bairstow, Player of the Match: It was just great fun to be out there. Just one of those things, when you get in that kind of mood, you just got to go with it. Ben at the other end said don't even think about it. That's how it went. We know the power we've got in the middle order. Today was our day, and what a day it's been. Thanks so much for coming. We saw it as a one-day game. The pitch was very good, the outfield was very fast. The brand of cricket we're looking to play, days like this are very exciting. If this is happening now, let's see what will happen in the next few months. It's going to be a journey. On wickets like this, guys trucking in - all the bowlers. The way in which Joe and Pope played in the first innings. It's no. 1 (where does this knock rate for him). There's been chatter around English cricket in recent months, some of it's been harsh. Sky is the limit.
Stokes, England captain: Can't take too much credit for that to be honest. Run into the danger, rather than back away and stand still. That's what we did there. Everyone put their hands up at different stages, everyone's contributed to this win. (NZ) Being a seamer down was a huge advantage for us, and not allow them to settle. He's the best keeper in the world (Foakes). He's fantastic with the gloves. You can see him progressing as a batsman. Was very clear about Ollie Pope being in my team. He's a fantastic player. To have some senior players around him is going to help him. Just a huge shout out to Nottingham Cricket Club for doing what they did today. We're going to come even harder (at Headingley). That's our mindset at the moment.
Latham, NZ captain: Getting here today with all three results in play. Managing to scrap to 300, getting a few early wickets. At tea it was in the balance. But obviously with Jonny, the way they played, full credit to them. To give him a chance at tea, a couple of wickets there would've been a different story. Obviously we were a bowler down as well. When Jonny plays an innings like that, makes things harder. Emotions are pretty raw at the moment, boys are pretty gutted. Bit of a gap, chance for guys to get away from the game.
17:24 Local Time, 16:24 GMT, 21:54 IST: Bairstow roars in delight on the balcony as he watches the ball disappear into the boundary. It was set up to be a fascinating final session, but what we got was carnage. A brutal demolition of the New Zealand bowling as Jonny Bairstow smashed them senseless, turning the chase into a canter with a stunning 136 off just 92 balls. England were in trouble, you know. Adopting an approach where they wanted to go for the target, they slipped to 93 for 4. Would've made complete sense to just back off and try to stave off defeat. Stokes's response instead was to dance down the pitch early in his innings and smash Southee straight back for six. And then Bairstow just went berserk after tea. They needed some 160 runs in the final session, and they've done it in 16 overs. Just ridiculous what we've watched today. Stay tuned for the presentations.
