So that's all from the first ODI. Some players were missing due to niggles and some were rested by both teams, with the bigger picture in mind. But what we got was an emphatic performance with the bat from New Zealand on a pitch that wasn't as straightforward as it was made to look by Conway and Mitchell. We'll see what the teams have on offer in Southampton. Until then, it's goodbye!

Latham: Outstanding I think. Didn't necessarily got the wickets we wanted upfront but pulled things back. Seeing a partnership of 180 - the way they played was outstanding on that wicket. It was slower than what we thought it might be. Towards the end guys bowling into the surface and using the big boundaries. The way they absorbed pressure at start of the partnership and then put their foot down. Hats off to those two guys. Will give the guys opportunities throughout the series at some point.

Buttler: Disappointing. Halfway I thought we had a decent score. Most of us were finding it difficult to time the ball. Just couldn't find a way to break that partnership. We tried most things. For a little period we built pressure nicely. Strung some good overs. But Mitchell played a few big shots and got it away from us again. Impetus Livingstone gave to the innings got us to a score that I thought was over par. Have to look after a few people the way the schedule is. But also want to play good cricket.

Conway, POTM: We thought it was just above par. We thought par was 270. For us, as a batting group, focus was on building partnerships. The nice thing about ODIs is you have more time than you think. I always enjoy batting alongside Daryl. He hits a lot of boundaries. Made my job easier.

19:49 Local Time, 18:49 GMT, 00:19 IST: Wow what a run chase! Hundreds from Conway and Mitchell have taken New Zealand to victory with room to spare. 292 seemed like a competitive target at the halfway stage, but never did New Zealand not look in control of the chase. Chris Woakes started well with the new ball but runs leaked from the other end with Topley struggling for rhythm and Willey not at his best either. It allowed New Zealand to get away and England never pulled them back. Conway and Mitchell got together at 117/2 and proceeded to put on an unbeaten stand of 180 for the third wicket, both of them getting to their hundreds in the process - Conway more measured, while Mitchell the aggressor. Mitchell was particularly severe on Rashid when victory was within sight, with the leggie going at close to 9 an over. New Zealand pacers had used the slower short balls to good effect towards the death, but England's attempts at doing that were met with a disdainful Mitchell who played the pull emphatically. He was in some touch and blew England away.
