Phew, what a dramatic way for New Zealand to register their first win on tour. More importantly, this ODI series will now be viewed with renewed interest. Locked at 1-1, we're hopefully set up for 3 cracking games ahead. That's all for today. I've been Sagar Chawla and on behalf of Abhishek Chaudhary, Kumar Abhisekh, Ramakrishnan, Srivathsa, and our scorer Reddy, it's a goodbye!

Williamson: "Obviously nice to talk about something else for a change. Wicket wasn't easy to increase the scoring rate. Saying that, we were probably a few off from where we wanted to be. We were able to pick up wickets, some of which were quite fortunate. Creating a bit of pressure on that sort of surface was the key. Boult led from the front. I think the bowling was huge for us. Probably we were below par but knew that on this surface we had enough to put on a squeeze. Wasn't easy with the dew, but the left-arm spinners did a good job. Wasn't much turn but they were great for us. Allowed the seamers to be the aggressors. Seam bowling was tough to face on that surface. Credit to India as well: they were 6-7 down, but never gave in and fought all the way. Just want to contribute to the team's performance whether it's less than a hundred or not. At times there was frustration: it was a good surface but it was tough to increase the scoring and tough to start. I just had a bit of cramp, my arms are fine now."

Kane Williamson is Man of the Match

Dhoni: "It's important when you're playing at home [for the crowd to be behind you]. This was one game when we kept losing wickets. That was something that hurt us. It wasn't the run rate which pushed us to play big shots. It's a day when any of the batsmen could go on and say that "it could have been me". It's very crucial when you're chasing that you play 50 overs. Felt the NZ bowlers bowled well. Main reason was that we kept losing wickets. Weren't able to keep wickets in hand despite the slow wicket. Don't think there was a lot of dew. Consistent amount of dew, still wasn't coming onto the bat. In the coming games, I'll be losing a toss somewhere and then we'll have to bowl well. This game was something where we could've done slightly better. After the new ball, it was important to get the reverse swing going to put pressure. Bowled well in the last 20-25 overs to restrict them to 240."

Time for the presentations..

Boult: "I think not just myself, a great effort by the bowling unit to restrict a good Indian side under the target, very satisfying, look forward to Mohali now. It''s a good sign to see the bowling side do well. Pretty happy we did that. Obviously to go for as least as possible, but try and remain aggressive; obviously taking wickets was going to be an advantage [on his last over plans]. There was a lot of moisture here. The wicket was holding up a touch, credit to smart bowling, mixed up the length and mixed up the pace as well."

242 didn't seem to be enough after New Zealand collapsed and couldn't capitalize on the foundation of Williamson's century. But soon, all those notions were dismissed with India struggling at 73/4. Dhoni and Jadhav strung together a rather impressive partnership in which the latter completely stole the show - playing with remarkable confidence. Eventually he did show his inexperience by falling at a critical juncture. It was always going to be uphill from there. Still, after getting so close and then falling, it would sting.

21:35 Local Time, 16:05 GMT, 21:35 IST: The New Zealanders are absolutely pumped as you'd expect them to be, Kohli stands up from his chair while his heart sinks, and the crowd starts leaving in bitter disappointment. What drama towards the end, Alfred Hitchcock would be proud! The game seemed to have been gone after Guptill's double strike which left India reeling at 183/8, still 60 adrift. But Pandya and Yadav mounted a stunning partnership which took the Kiwis by great shock and they almost crumbled. Almost. Pandya faltered at the final step and then Southee proved too good for a No. 11.

Southee to Bumrah, out Bowled!! New Zealand prevail in this absolute barn-burner. Southee pulls a pin-point yorker out of the closet under immense pressure and it's too good for Bumrah. He tried to squeeze it out. Can't. Cleaned up. Ecstasy for the Kiwis, dejection for the hosts. That's what sport is all about. Bumrah b Southee 0(1)

Southee to Bumrah, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

49.2

Southee to U Yadav, 1 run, oh he was eyeing that mid-off fielder but the brilliantly full length from Southee prevents Yadav from getting under it. Squeezed out to the fielder

8 needed off 5. Mid-off is in!

Southee to U Yadav, 2 runs, he's swiped this in the gap .. but it doesn't have enough to reach the fence. Deep mid-wicket runs around and slides across to stop. Two

Tim Southee [9.0-0-49-2] is back into the attack

Boult to Hardik Pandya, out Caught by Santner!! He's gone. He's holed out. My, my, my! The Kotla is shellshocked and there's nothing to be heard. Short ball outside off, Pandya is advancing, then realizes that he can't back down and has a warrior-like slash at it. The ball gets too big and it's sliced up in the air towards sweeper cover who holds his cool. Hardik Pandya c Santner b Boult 36(32) [4s-3]

Boult to Hardik Pandya, FOUR, oh Pandya, they'll write songs about him if he takes India home. Back of a length, he opens his stance up and then clubs it with a flat-batted smite over mid-off. Picked his spot
