PLAYER OF THE MATCH : Virat Kohli
Bowler
That's it from here. An absolute privilege to bear witness to a Kohli masterclass as always. This is Sagar Chawla signing off on behalf of Abhishek Chaudhary, Ramakrishnan, and Srivathsa. Good night!
Kohli: "Bit of luck went my way. Feel sorry for Ross; never easy to drop a catch and then the batsman bats right through. I've felt that thing in Wellington when Brendon scored 300. It was a really good game for us. Probably gave away 30-40 too many. We know we can be a good chasing team. It was great to have MS at four. We could build a partnership and we scored 150 and then Manish also held his own and gave me the confidence. For a guy to come in that situation, he backed himself. The way he hit those 2-3 boundaries, it gave me the assurance. Those two partnerships sealed the game for us. The wicket wasn't all that flat. Some deliveries were holding up. In the past I've tried to play out of my skin and probably got overexcited but then understood that if I time the ball well enough and work the gaps, I can get more purchase out of my strokes. That's the feedback from the team members as well. If a bowler can bowl in consistent areas and be a good bowler, a batsman can keep things simple and be a good batsman and be consistent as well. Happy for now. Me and MS had a chat, he took on the spinner because he has the strength that even mistimed shots can clear the fence whereas I need to hit the middle of the bat to send them over. I understand that teams are looking to get me out, I take my time, build the momentum. I give myself the chance to go out and finish the game when the opposition is tired. For that you need to play percentage cricket."
Virat Kohli is Man of the Match..
Dhoni: "We could have done better in the last game. But it's important to have no hangover. It's important to focus on the next one. We kept getting wickets in the middle and that's what restricted them to 280. Overall they have done well, the surprise package has been Kedar. He's got crucial wickets. I feel if you can get wickets in the middle you can restrict the opposition. Bowling department has done their job. When you win games, there's a tendency to brush everything under the carpet. We need to improve in those last 5-7 overs. I have no clue how he gets wickets, that's the reality of it [talking about Jadhav]. Important that someone in the top 5-6 gives you some overs so that there's no pressure on Hardik to complete his 10. Hoping that Jadhav improves more and even to the right-handers, he's able to bowl. Have batted lower down for a long time. Out of the 280 games I've played, I think for 200 of them I have batted down. That's where I'm losing my ability to rotate in the middle. So the decision was to go up and then express myself. It's important for me at this stage. That's what my thinking was - to go out and express myself. I was playing the big shots. There were points in the middle where I had to pull myself out of the instinct to simply rotate. Batting with Virat helps; the reason being that both of us can hit boundaries and push for those singles and doubles. Right from the start, he's somebody who always wanted to improve and win games for India. Even if he got 60-70 runs, he wanted to convert it into a big innings. He's someone who has learnt a lot. He knows his strength well and executes his plan. If he can bat the way he's batting, each and every individual will be happy. He's not only made the fans proud, but also the parents and family. That's what you look to do."
Williamson: "Frustrating to lose those wickets in the middle. Were probably looking for more at that stage. Neesham and Henry batting there at the end was a great effort. 280 is not always an easy chase, but MS and Virat played outstanding. If you took early wickets, it makes it look like a good total. Coming into a game on a good surface, you look for more than 280. We did pick early-ish wickets but those two came out, put on 150 and took the game away. Boys tried hard but it wasn't to be. It's part of the game [THAT Taylor drop], you want to catch them all but it doesn't always happen."
Presentations time..
21:21 Local Time, 15:51 GMT, 21:21 IST: Kohli is congratulated by the Kiwis, notably by a smiling Ross Taylor. A dropped catch to rue. He was on 6, was Kohli. That's why you never give second chances to class players. India were indeed in a spot of bother at 41/2 having lost both openers. Losing Kohli at that stage could have been significant. Nevertheless, it wasn't to be. Dhoni promoted himself to no. 4 and immediately there was a sense of calm as the duo proceeded to rescue India from the early wobble. The 151-run stand would then go on to almost seal the game for the hosts and despite Dhoni getting out against the run of play, there was no stopping Kohli. India's run-chasing wizard notched up another match-winning hundred. Didn't stop there. Ensured that he saw his team over the line. There wasn't much happening for New Zealand in terms of troubling the batsmen after the new ball wore out. Santner caused some concern once Dhoni got out but that was right at the end of his spell. Against the pacers, the ball came on pretty well barring a few cutters which held up from a back of a length.
Matt Henry to M Pandey, FOUR, it's all over here. Not quite the most elegant way given that it's a hoick through mid-wicket .. but who can complain? India go 2-1 up in the series
Matt Henry to M Pandey, no run, driven straight to the man at cover. Try again
Matt Henry [9.0-0-52-2] is back into the attack

T Boult
10-0-73-0
Boult to Kohli, FOUR, oh full toss and it's been creamed. There's enough width on offer and so Kohli uses all the pace on it and slices it through point. Just one needed now
Boult to Kohli, 2 runs, whips it wide of long-on and hurtles back for the second. That's his 150. Waves his bat to the entirety of the crowd in a 360 degree arc. He has people feeding off the tip of his fingers
Boult to Kohli, SIX, a chip. That's all it is. Just like the previous ball. This one though has gone all the way. Full ball and Kohli deliberately punches it in the air over mid-off. Clears the ropes
Boult to Kohli, FOUR, finishing with a flourish now. Picks his spot over mid-off. All he wants to do with this length delivery is lift it over the infield. What timing
Boult to Kohli, 2 runs, now it's a little bit straighter and Kohli has whipped it away over mid-wicket. It's near enough to the man in the deep and he's able to cut it off
Boult to Kohli, FOUR, so reminiscent of that epic World T20 match against Australia earlier in the year. Pitched right up outside off and Kohli slices it through point. Toying with the field

10-0-55-1
Southee to Kohli, 1 run, full around off, Kohli drives to long-on
Southee to M Pandey, 1 run, advances and jabs a back of a length delivery to mid-on. Kohli is initially hesitant with short mid-wicket swooping in to intercept but then goes through and trusts his partner. Easily completed
Southee to M Pandey, no run, moves away from the line of the length ball and defends to cover
Southee to Kohli, 1 run, back of a length around off, dabbed down to third man
