A strong showing from India, shaking off that blip from Mumbai. The teams will now go to Kanpur for the decider. Two one-sided contests so far; hopefully the decider will tear the house down. So that's all we have for today. Good night and take care!

Bhuvneshwar: That's my nature (being calm and confident), never try to change that. The focus is to replicate what I practice, during the match. Whenever I bowl with the new ball, I try to swing it. It didn't happen today, so I was focused on bowling in good areas. When you're confident, things get easier. Thanks to management, they keep motivating me. I'm not a muscular guy. If you compare to last couple of years, I feel much stronger when it comes to fitness.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is Man of the Match

Kohli: Pretty good game for us today, exactly what we spoke at toss time. We thought the wicket will play slower during the day, and better during the evening. That's how it was. Bowlers were really clinical today and fielders as well. Both those guys are coming along nicely (Bhuvi and Bumrah). They know they're going to start more often than not. Today, with the wicket being slow, it was heartening to see them getting wickets in conventional ways. Dhawan has been playing really well. He's striking the ball really well. He's pretty confident at the moment. Dinesh as well, getting some crucial runs for himself as well as the team. I look forward to challenges. We spoke about bouncing back, and we have bounced back here today. Would look to play similar sort of cricket in Kanpur as well.

Harsha Bhogle: Only a modest target for India and therefore, an easy, controlled run-chase. Was hardly ever in doubt.

Williamson: It was one of those surfaces that if you could get a score on the board, and then squeeze, then you can make life difficult, but 230 wasn't enough. We weren't good enough at the top. Credit to India the way they bowled. Their opening spell put us under a lot of pressure. Lot of positives from our middle order to take us to that total. Need to play a lot better to beat these guys. Surface wasn't easy to play fluently. De Grandhomme played nicely. Would have been nice to have had a few more to defend. We certainly came here with high hopes. We put in a much better performance in Mumbai, not so much today. Need to play much better come Kanpur.

Karthik: I would like to think so (that the form is getting better). It is important to spend as much time in the middle. It was even more important for me to be there when we won the match and I am happy that I was able to do that. Maybe I took a little more time but with confidence the runs will flow. So far so good (on the comeback). I have had a lot of demons to fight and these things happen inside you. In the end lot of credit to Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli. Afternoon it (the surface) was okay, when the ball was new it was coming on and when it got scuffed up the odd ball was turning. I am not able to put it exactly to what I am feeling. I have got a good score and need to take confidence from this match to win more matches.

DK and Dhoni are involved in a serious chat by the looks of it as they take their time to make their way back slowly inside. The former all ears to what the junior has to say. Meanwhile Dhawan and Rohit are goofing around as they wait to shake hands with the Kiwis. Once New Zealand made 230 and didn't make inroads with the new ball, the game was as good as over, especially with the pitch not aiding them. It skidded on quite nicely under lights and only Santner kept the batsmen guessing with his clever variations. Big game for DK who was promoted to 4 and did his cause no harm with an unbeaten 64 which should please the team management. Earlier Dhawan looked good for a ton, but threw it away. Boult who was outstanding in the last game, couldn't recreate the same here and Southee was a disappointment. But in all fairness, New Zealand lost the game when they batted and could only make 230 when somewhere around 300 would've made it a competitive game. Maybe choosing to bat first was a mistake in hindsight - especially after chasing so well at Mumbai - food for thought for KW and Co. Do stay tuned for the presentations...

9-1-60-1

45.6

Southee to Karthik, FOUR, India level the series in style! Probably the shot of the match to end the game. It was on a fullish length outside off, Karthik gets forward and creams the cover-drive to perfection. High elbow and all that other attributes which make him such a joy and a frustration to watch - when he flops. Races away past cover and into the fence. Sheer timing and the fans in Pune break into a cheer after nearly dozing off for the last few minutes when there were dots being played with regularity

Maybe Dhoni wants Karthik to finish it off. The last ball was right in his slot and with the field up, he could've teed off, but opted to ease it instead. Let's see what DK can do

45.5

Southee to Dhoni, 1 run, full on off, pushed straight down the ground, a single

45.4

Southee to Dhoni, no run, short of length on off, punched to cover. No chance of a run

45.3

Southee to Karthik, leg byes, 1 run, nips back in and hits Karthik on the thigh pad. They steal a leg-bye. No appeal as the angle was taking it down leg

45.2

Southee to Dhoni, 1 run, uses his feet and then works it through square leg

45.1

Southee to Dhoni, no run, the cutter bounces a bit more and foils Dhoni's attempt at a cut. Loops over the top edge

Tim Southee [8.0-1-54-1] is back into the attack

Milne to Karthik, no run, Santer at cover-point makes a sliding stop to prevent at least two. Good-looking square drive cut off

44.5

Milne to Dhoni, 1 run, pitched up outside off, it comes off the inside half of the bat and finds mid-on, quick single taken

akshay: Dhoni heard you Praneeth

44.4

44.3

Milne to Dhoni, no run, cramps Dhoni with a back of a length delivery outside off, forced off the back foot to cover

Milne to Dhoni, no run, short of length outside off, pushed off the back foot to cover
