Harsha Bhogle: Been that way for so many years....was so enjoyable watching Rohit bat this evening.
Not always that New Zealand feature in an one-sided game, particularly in India but that's how it panned out today. India have the series in the bag with a game to go and you'd expect them to try some experiments in the final game at Indore. That should potentially be a run fest too, given the history of the venue. New Zealand will be keen to gain a consolation win and will surely put up a better performance than today. It's a wrap to today's coverage of this series. Until next time, this is Hari Sadanandan signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy and Siva. You can switch tabs to enjoy the plethora of cricketing action that's going on across the globe. Cheers!
Mohammed Shami | Player of the Match: Whenever I start, I just focus on maintaining the right lines and lengths. But it does happen sometimes that you bowl well and yet don't get wickets. On other days you may not be in rhythm, and will still get wickets. That happens. I feel that the more you work with the ball in practice, the more success will come. I never thought I'd get to have a proper seam position and it gives me joy to see the seam upright as it goes in the air. As a new-ball bowler, it's important to assess the conditions and pass the message quickly to the other bowlers as well.
Rohit Sharma | India skipper: The last five games, bowlers have really stepped up. Whatever we have asked of them, they have stepped up and delivered. You don't usually see this type of seam movement in India, you generally see it outside India. These guys have some serious skills, they work really hard and it's great to see them being rewarded. We trained yesterday and the ball was nipping around under lights. We knew that if they had 250 or so, it might have been challenging for us but that was the point of opting to chase. We batted first last game, so the idea was to challenge ourselves. Not sure what I'll do at Indore (in the final game). The confidence is high within the group and that's great to see. They (Shami and Siraj) were raring to keep bowling long spells but I reminded them that there is a Test series coming up as well (Australia at home), so we need to take care of themselves as well. I'm trying to change my game a bit now, have been trying to take the bowlers on and I think that's important. I know the big scores haven't come, but I'm not too worried about it.
Tom Latham | New Zealand skipper: Batting up-top wasn't our best performance. India put the ball in the right areas and it was one of those days where everything we tried didn't work. On the other hand, everything India did worked. There was some tennis-ball bounce, some came through, some kept low and there was some movement. We just couldn't build partnerships at the top. Guys lower down tried to fight but it wasn't easy. We didn't adapt well today, considering the surface.
Shubman Gill - It was a good opportunity for me to stay unbeaten in the middle. There was a little in it for the fast bowlers in the second innings, thought there would be more when we saw them bat, but there wasn't a lot (when we batted). But it was turning and gripping for the spinners. It's always a dream to bat with Rohit bhai, have learnt a lot batting along with him. Me and Ishan Kishan) are best mates, we spend a lot of time off-field together, it was great to spend some time batting together.
18:24 Local Time, 12:54 GMT, 18:24 IST: Easily among India's most clinical ODI wins in recent times. 109 was never going to be enough even to compete and India's openers made short work of it. Rohit in particular looked in the mood as he stroked an eye-catching fifty to entertain the crowd. Gill was a bit restrained today as he batted through till the end with a lot of composure. He too did play some fab strokes of course, extending his glorious run of form with the bat. NZ's bowlers can't really be faulted as they just didn't have the runs to play with. Their only hope was to strike early with the new ball but that didn't happen. India's batters completed the formalities without much fuss. The game was setup by the bowlers and New Zealand will rue their indiscipline with the bat.
Santner to Shubman Gill, FOUR, Gill ends it in style! India seal the series with a crushing eight-wicket win! Skips down the track, gets a half-volley on leg stump and it's whipped easily over mid-on with a straight bat. Stylishly done

M Bracewell to Ishan Kishan, FOUR, brings out the reverse sweep and connects well, clearing point comfortably. Hitting with the spin, so that was a safe shot. There was nobody sweeping that side either

M Bracewell to Ishan Kishan, no run, nicely bowled! Slow loopy off break, grips and turns a bit to beat Kishan on the outside edge

Mitchell Santner
4-0-24-1
Santner to Ishan Kishan, no run, quicker and fuller on leg stump, Kishan blocks it out to mid-wicket
Santner to Ishan Kishan, no run, more use of the feet from Kishan, Santner slows it on leg stump and gets it to spin into the left-hander. Goes off the pad towards mid-wicket
Santner to Ishan Kishan, no run, comes down again but the length is pulled back by Santner this time and Kishan adjusts with a defensive stroke to cover
Santner to Ishan Kishan, FOUR, Kishan is off and running! Right matchup too with the left-arm spinner to the left-hander. Kishan uses his feet well, gets to the pitch and lifts this easily over mid-off who was up in the ring
Santner to Ishan Kishan, no run, slower and fuller outside off, Kishan drives firmly to cover
Ishan Kishan, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Santner to Kohli, out Stumped!! Stumping appeal and Kohli is already walking! Probably knows the fate. Latham also looks quite confident. And yes, the replay confirms it clearly, the back foot had dragged out momentarily after which the bails were whipped off. Nicely bowled by Santner, fired this in around off, got it to spin just a fraction and Kohli played inside the line of it, also losing his balance in the process. Length was the key here from Santner, made the batter reach and then duped him. Kohli was in a hurry to finish the game off, but won't be around for it. Kohli st Latham b Santner 11(9) [4s-2]
