What a good game of cricket. UAE could have restricted New Zealand to under 140 and then they failed utilize a good base in the chase. But it was good to see some positive shots played by their batters. The visitors will be keen on getting Jamieson back to the groove. He looked off colour in the first two overs, but he managed a wicket when the pressure was off in the final over. Conditions not so batting friendly today and that closes the gap between the sides. Saturday promises to be an exciting contest too. Until then, goodbye!
Tim Southee | PoTM | NZ captain: It was a good game of cricket and we expected this, they are a good side. We knew it was going to be hot here. Used to different conditions when you travel across the world. They are improving. ILT20 coming and their youngsters coming and expressing, it's a good sign. To play in these hot conditions and experience these conditions similar to India is a good thing leading up to the World Cup.
Muhammad Waseem | UAE captain: It's an honour for us to play New Zealand. We were close to winning but I think we lost because of lack of experience. We were talking about taking the game deep but we lost early wickets. I'm happy with the performance from my team. Hopefully we can do well in the next game. From my side 500 (Samosas) to Aryansh for that innings (smiles).
21:23 Local Time, 17:23 GMT, 22:53 IST: UAE might have lost, but they gave a proper scare to New Zealand. They were well ahead of this chase at one point when Aryansh was going great guns. But Neesham came into the attack and got two wickets, including Aryansh to stop UAE in their strides. Southee got the visitors off to a great start with two wickets in two overs. But Aryansh launched an attractive counterattack on his way to a debut fifty. But Southee came back to get Hameed and eventually finished with a five-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Santner took a stunning return catch to dismiss Asif as well.
Jamieson to Mohammed Faraazuddin, out Caught by Southee!! And Jamieson gets a wicket on return too. Short of a length into the wicket, Faraazuddin slogs and mistimes, Southee moves around and completes the catch at mid-wicket. New Zealand finish this off nicely.
