So that's it from us here. The action now shifts to coloured clothing with Azhar Ali set to lead the pack. We'll be back on 13th of January for the first ODI at the Gabba. Until then this is Krishna signing off on behaf of Pratyush Sinha and Sagar Chawla. Ta Ta!!

It had promised to be a cracker of a series after the first Test, where Shafiq's heroics fell short from taking his team over the line in Brisbane, but it's a shame that Pakistan's curve embarked on a big downward spiral from there. They couldn't survive two sessions at the MCG after rain had done much of the work for them. And that loss just knocked the stuffing out of them and rendered this third one as nothing more than a blur.

Smith has been handed over the trophy and is joined by the rest of the team. Most of them are playing for the first time and will cherish every moment.

Steven Smith - Man of the series: "The turnaround since Hobart - the way we have played - is how we want to play our cricket. It's been outstanding. Guys have scored runs and bowled good areas. The quicks have done a good job. Nathan and SOk have been good too, particurly Nathan in Melbourne. A satisfying 3-0. It's a great place to play (my 50th Test). Pakistan have played some very good cricket, particularly in Brisbane and Melbourne. We are playing some good cricket and hopefully we can carry that form into the limited-overs cricket and close the summer on a good note."

David Warner - Man of the Match: "Fantastic comeback. We kicked Hobart away and moved on. Boys played great cricket and we have a comprehensive 3-0 whitewash. I think it is always fun to play in front of your home crowd. It's fun when the crowd gets behind you. That (second innings yesterday) was where you want to be in a Test match. We will see what Darren has to offer (on the celebrations)."

Misbah - captain, Pakistan: "I think it was a tough series. Full credit to Australia, they played well. Outplayed us in every department, utilizing the conditions very well. We have a few youngsters performing - Azhar, Shafiq and Sarfraz. They will travel to other parts of the world, to Australia and perform well. In Gabba, the way we played in the second innings gave us a lot of self-belief, but the last day at the MCG was difficult to take. We were demoralized. Otherwise, overall, if you see the number of positives for Pakistan (there were many). Australia is a great place to learn as an Asian side. Thanks to the crowd. Thats for your hospitality."

Mitch Starc: "It''s tough work but Test cricket is not easy. Full credit to the whole team. I and Josh have come through the ranks pretty much together and he''s been phenomenal all summer, allowing me to be fast and aggressive at the other end. Some of these wickets can be hard work but we had an extra spinner this week, so the workload was less. I am happy to sit and swing hard against the spinners (on his six-hitting)."

A proper thrashing for Pakistan who collapse to their 12th consecutive Test loss in Australia. The third innings of this Test which saw the hosts galloping at over 7.5 runs, a new record, summed up Pakistan's plight appropriately. They weren't just defeated, they were victimized. The batting was equally disappointing, if not more, on a flat SCG pitch. Younis Khan's ton in the first innings aside, nobody really applied themselves and if you roll through the wickets, even on this final day, there are hardly a couple of dismissals where the bowlers have forced the error. Ideally, you'd like to dig in on the final day to save the Test. But there was nothing 'dig-in' like about Pakistan's play. Stay tuned for the presentations...

Players huddle in and celebrate the victory before they disperse for a customary handshake. Pakistan players come out to congratulate them. Australia will be a lot happier with the series whitewash. They had a new set of players, more of a young set-up, and to get a result like this against a team which was only recently No. 1 in the world is fabulous. It has been a complete team effort from them. Jackson Bird too contributed to the team, though he was dropped after a good show in Melbourne. He went out to pull off four catches and equal the record for the most catches by a substitute.

Hazlewood to Imran Khan, out Caught by (sub)Bird!! That's it. Australia have bounced back from a series loss to South Africa. They have whitewashed Pakistan. It was just a matter of time before they could wrap things up. Good length delivery shapes away to take the outside edge towards gully. Bird takes his fourth catch in this match. Lyon to Sarfraz, SIX, it's getting bigger and bigger. Sarfraz reaches out for the ball and slog sweeps it over mid-wicket. Times it well for the ball to sail deep in the stands to make it a 20-run over

Lyon to Sarfraz, FOUR, make that three off the over. Sarfraz slogs it over mid-wicket and collects his eight boundary

Lyon to Sarfraz, FOUR, Sarfraz goes for the slog sweep. Connects well and goes over the man at square leg. The ball bounces a couple of times before hitting the ropes

Field is up to prevent a single

Lyon to Sarfraz, FOUR, poor delivery from Lyon. Short and wide outside off, Sarfraz cuts it to sweeper cover. No chance of stopping that
