Bangladesh came into this Test with a lot of criticism regarding their recent performances across formats but there were some positives to take away. Liton Das' maiden ton followed by a fifty, Rahim's 90-odd and Taijul's 7-fer. With Shakib most likely to return for the next game, they can hope for a far better outing. Pakistan looked rusty but they got better as the game progressed. However, they would be looking to be more clinical right through the five days. That's all we have for you from this game. The second Test starts on Saturday. Until then, take care and stay safe.. Goodbye

Babar Azam: The way they played after the first session.. but we came back well the next day and that's what Test cricket is all about. You have time to make a come back. When there is a partnership we have to be more consistent with our bowling. But we had very little time to prepare for this Test as there were only two days after the T20s, but we are professionals and have to be prepared. I am happy the way he (Abid Ali) built his innings and he will only keep improving, also the way Abdullah played, they will make a good opening pair.

Abid Ali | Player of the Match: Our thought process was to stay at the wicket and put up a partnership. I have been playing domestic cricket and performing well, that's what I carried into this game. He (Abdullah Shafique) played really well and he used to tell me when I made mistake. I was praying for him and hopefully he keeps batting like this. I am happy that Pakistan won the game, but little disappointed that I couldn't get that second hundred.

Mominul Haque: We lost in the first one hour in the first innings and second innings as well. I thought Mushi and Liton batted really well. The pitch was still good for batting. But credit to them especially Afridi and Hasan Ali. They bowled really well.

11:37 Local Time, 05:37 GMT, 11:07 IST: Pakistan were behind in this Test for most parts but when it mattered the most they turned their A game on. They allowed Bangladesh to recover from 49 for 4 to add 330, then capitulated after the 146-run opening stand and were bowled out for 286. Bangladesh had a lead of 44 and could have run away with the game, but that's where Pakistan raised their game. The bowlers ran through the top order just like they did in the first innings but this time they continued to pick wickets at regular intervals and didn't allow Bangladesh to take a massive lead. Chasing 202, the openers Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique bettered their first innings stand and added 151, the former missed out on twin hundreds but had done enough to put his side on the brink of victory. Hang around for the presentations..

Mehidy Hasan to Azhar Ali, FOUR, Pakistan win by 8 wickets. Azhar Ali finishes with back to back boundaries. Handshakes all around. This was a leg-lined delivery from Mehidy and Azhar Ali goes on his knee to sweep it fine, beat the leg slip fielder and the ball whistled away to the fence

Mehidy Hasan to Azhar Ali, FOUR, shot! Azhar Ali is not known for his fancy shots but pulls one out of the bag. He bends low and reverse sweeps it through the point region, the ball races away to the fence

57.6

Taijul Islam to Babar Azam, no run, on the shorter side and Babar wanted to punch it through cover, but the ball turns and he ends up chopping it into the off-side

57.5

Taijul Islam to Azhar Ali, 1 run, fraction short and Azhar Ali eases it in front of square, wide of extra cover and crosses over

57.4

Taijul Islam to Azhar Ali, no run, he was shaping to play the sweep but decided against it at the last second, blocked to silly point

57.2

Taijul Islam to Azhar Ali, no run, defended back down the wicket

57.1

Taijul Islam to Azhar Ali, no run, tossed up around off, Azhar Ali prods forward to defend but the ball spins away to beat the outside edge. He did well not to go searching for the ball

Suvo: Abu Jayed tries to swing the ball rather than hitting the deck hard. Someone like Taskin Ahmed would have come more handy on this pitch and would be a good support to Ebadot Hossain. 'Taskin injured himself during the T20I series'

Mehidy Hasan

18-4-51-1

56.6

Mehidy Hasan to Babar Azam, no run, appeal for LBW. The camera is on Mominul, the timer is running down and he does not review. This one kept low and Babar is caught in the crease, the impact was around off. Was it missing the off-stump? It was definitely worth a review and Bangladesh had one up their sleeve. The replays show that Babar got an inside edge onto the pad, good decision by umpire Gough and Mominul not to go for the review

56.5

Mehidy Hasan to Babar Azam, no run, angled across off, Babar is back and across to defend it back to Mehidy

56.4

Mehidy Hasan to Babar Azam, no run, now sweeps and still can't get it past leg slip, the fielder dives to make the stop

56.3

Mehidy Hasan to Babar Azam, no run, leg-lined and Babar tucks it to the left of leg slip

ABBAS: if you take out Taijul out of contest, where do the hosts stand? Bangladesh really struggling across all formats of the game? 'They're missing Tamim and Shakib big time'

56.2

Mehidy Hasan to Babar Azam, no run, stifled appeal for a strangle down leg. Once more Babar fails to connect with the tickle and Liton Das enquires for a caught behind, there was no bat there

56.1

Mehidy Hasan to Babar Azam, no run, spinning down leg, Babar misses the glance and that's a good take by Liton Das
