With each Test match, the question marks over Pakistan's batting unit, especially their handling of pressure, only continue to grow. That familiar second innings collapse has cost them yet another game. Next is the New Year's Test, and Pakistan could definitely do with some change in fortunes. We'll see what happens in Cape Town. That's all for now. It's a goodbye from Sagar Chawla on behalf of Sriram and Shashikant Singh. See you in 2019.
Duanne Olivier, MoM: At the end of the day, it's about contributing to the team and making the most of each opportunity. Depends on the wicket, won't do it in every game. Got good assistance from this wicket. Still remember few years ago when Mitch Johnson played here, it was very similar. At the end of the first innings I was a bit stiff. But it's about trying to be aggressive every ball. I'm not too fazed about it. Vernon's world class, he's been doing well for so many years. Have changed massively mentally. Last two months, I've tried to take it ball by ball. Can't control the result, but I can control my intensity and aggression. It's a match I won't forget.
Faf du Plessis, SA captain: Good Test match, thanks to the crowd. Pretoria and Cape Town are probably the two best supported grounds. Obviously looking forward to next week. Dale wanted to get it in Sri Lanka. When he came back, he was desperate to get that wicket. It was a victory to get through mentally, to clock in the overs here. Felt that was the match turning moment. They got themselves in a position where we felt we needed wickets. We were talking about restricting them to 250. Incredible effort from the bowlers. Olivier was very uncomfortable to face on a wicket like that. The first two hours today was proper Test cricket. Fantastic batting. Very happy for Hashim. Looks like he's moving well. Great signs for him. Expect Vernon to come back. Duanne has posed a nice selection headache for us.
Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistan captain: Very disappointed. Had an opportunity to score some runs but lost too many wickets in the final session. We have quality bowlers, but just didn't have the runs. Hopefully Abbas will be back for the second Test. Some positives in the batting, the likes of Imam, Shan Masood and Babar.
This Test, for South Africa, has belonged to Duanne Olivier. As a replacement third bowler, he couldn't have done any more to make an impression. Using the pace and bounce in the surface, he intimidated Pakistan and gave them a proper working over for exceptional figures of 11/96.
14:30 Local Time: A return to form for Hashim Amla to help South Africa knock these runs over comfortably. He had Dean Elgar for company for the most part, and that partnership for the second wicket just thwarted Pakistan's early charge. Credit to their bowlers for the spirited effort though, didn't make it easy even when South Africa were within 40-50 runs of the target and the result was a formality. It wasn't in that department that Pakistan went wrong. It was the dreaded batting collapse again, that saw them crumble from a strong position. That's been the story of Pakistan for far too long now. They lost nine wickets in the final session yesterday after starting at 100/1.
