Credit to Pakistan. They lost a close one in the first Test but came into this game with a lot of intent. Right from the first innings declaration to their patience with the ball and to scoring quickly in the second essay, they were right on the button and hence were able to level the series and more importantly get some crucial WTC points. West Indies will feel they had their moments but just could not match up with Pakistan's intensity. That's all from this series. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. This is Akshay Maanay signing off on behalf of my colleagues Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Kumar Abhisekh Das and scorer Naga. Goodbye!
Babar Azam: (loosely translated from Hindi) It was a very important game for us especially after losing the first Test. The way we played, right from my partnership with Fawad to taking the wickets on the final day, made me really proud. Afridi bowled really well in the first innings, then we scored quickly to put them in before stumps on day four. The plan was to go till 330-340 and then have a go at them. We had to level the series and hence had to take bold decisions. Nauman also played a crucial role and his two wickets were very important. We knew there would be some assistance for the spinners on day five and hence we played Nauman. He (Afridi) is a great talent for Pakistan and he's improving day by day, I am very lucky to have him lead the attack.
Shaheen Afridi | Player of the Match and Series: It is a great effort. The team needed this win and I am happy to deliver. It was tough; last day, the weather was hot and as a team we know if get one wicket we will get the next one. We gave 100 percent as a team and that's why we won the game. All credit goes to my brother Riaz Afridi, he is my brother and my father, also to my family. It was crucial for us to win this game and open our WTC account.
Kraigg Brathwaite: This game totally let us down. We were behind the 8-ball from the beginning. Test cricket is not easy. First 30 balls for a batter is always tough. We need to figure it out. I still think the series was a positive. The team did a superb job in the first Test. Kudos to the bowlers. They did a fantastic job. This Test, the first innings let us down. We did make some strides. Seales is a star in the making. Sky is the limit for him. The length he produces is remarkable. He has a bright future ahead of him. They were very consistent as a bowling unit. Despite it being hot, they all hit the right straps. Fawad getting a 100 is something for us and our team to learn.
West Indies have pulled off some miraculous chases this year but you just knew that this was beyond their reach. The momentum had completely shifted in favour of Pakistan and they just rode on that to seal the game. The pacers got into the act early and picked up four wickets in the first session. Nauman Ali then came to the party, the left arm spinner started getting turn from the surface and caused problems to the batsmen, accounting for the two big scalps of Brathwaite and Holder on either side of a rain/tea break. And those were the only two who showed any sort of application and once they were dismissed, it was a matter of time. Afridi finished with career best figures of 10 for 94 in the Test and fittingly it was him who finished off the game. Hang around for the presentations..
15:55 Local Time, 20:55 GMT, 02:25 IST: You might wonder how did West Indies lose this game after having started with a bang. They had Pakistan reeling at 2 for 3 on the opening morning and from that to this.. One bad session costs you a Test and here West Indies had an entire bad day yesterday. They first collapsed with the bat - going from 105/4 to 150 all out, after that the bowlers let Pakistan get off to a flier with some wayward bowling and were not able to keep the run flow in check as the scoring rate was well over a run-a-ball. Having set a target of 329, Brathwaite and Powell started off steadily but a school boy error sent back the latter and left the visitors with 9 wickets to pick on the final day.
Shaheen Afridi to Joshua Da Silva, out Caught by Faheem Ashraf!! Pakistan win by 109 runs. Afridi has a 10-fer in the game. He goes to the striker's end and picks up a stump as a souvenir. da Silva had made up his mind to go after the bowling and just could not execute the shot. Good length ball and da Silva wanted to go back over Afridi, but the bat turned on impact and he miscued it to mid-on, Faheem moves to his left and hangs on to the catch. Shaheen Afridi to Roach, out Lbw!! That looked dead. But West Indies had reviews up their sleeves and Roach thought why not use them. This was bound to happen. He was moving too far across his stumps and Afridi was aiming for them, lands the inswinger around off and gets it to nip back in, Roach is caught on the shuffle and struck right in front of the stumps, ball-tracking showed it to be hitting the top of middle-stump. Pakistan are one wicket away.. Roach lbw b Shaheen Afridi 7(15) [4s-1]
