No better way to start off your Sunday than with an exhibition of seam bowling from a full-strength South African pace attack on a Perth wicket. Okay, not the WACA, but this one almost lives upto its big brother. Snorters, shooters, seamers and jaffas. What a sight it was. Faf's right - perhaps a more clinical performance by the batsmen would've inspired more confidence. Nonetheless, this was a fabulous exhibiton of fast bowling to churn out one of the rarer sights in the modern game - a low-scoring ODI. This is Rishi Roy, signing off a little earlier than expected, on behalf of substitute fielder Vinod, Hariprasad (#ManDown), and Kumar Abhisekh Das (floored by Dale Steyn's modesty and humility). That's a wrap from us. Ciao!

Dale Steyn, Man of the Match: The (souvenir) cap will probably mess up my hair(laughs). It was good to finish a game without breaking down in Australia. A good wicket to bowl on, and the captain decided we were going to bowl first if we won the toss. I knew if we bowled well we could get any team out. I would take any wicket in ODI cricket. When left-handers are batting the ball kind of slips out but in ODIs I'll take any wicket. I played county cricket, but international cricket is a whole lot different. We know how Finch and Lynn are bullies in county cricket. So I've only just started out again in international cricket, but I'm getting there, slowly but surely. Lungi and KG are fantastic. I would've loved to see what a tall chap like Morris could've done on this wicket too. Morne was fantastic as well and he would've been lethal on this wicket. Happy with my performance nonetheless, and hopefully there's a lot more to come from us.

Faf du Plessis, South Africa captain: We were exceptional with the ball and in the field. Did everything right. There was some counter-punching at the end, but a good day at the office overall. Great to have Steyn back. All the bowlers today were great. It's great as a captain to have such X-factor in the bowling attack and they made sure to take advantage of the conditions. The openers batted very maturely and made sure they got the job done. (About the diving catch at slip) the old man can still hold on to a catch or two (smiles). We got ourselves into a good position. We could have been a little more clinical, but we'll take this any way. Looking forward to Adelaide.

Aaron Finch, Australian Captain: Disappointed. Didn't play anywhere near our potential. South Africa bowled extremely well and put us at a disadvantage early. It is a great opportunity to improve. We have been training well, but all we can do at this point is review the game and keep improving so that we can do better in Adelaide. We were a bit careless at times in the first innings. We were off the mark slowly. If you're defending 152, then nothing can go wrong with the ball. Unfortunately for us, Quinton and Reeza got off to a flier, and there was little we could do from there. We could've opened with Starc and even Cummins, but everything has to go right for us with the ball and things just didn't go right for us today. Felt like the SA bowlers were all over us at times and all the credit to them; they were fantastic. We're going to come back stronger next match.

Marcus Stoinis: We had spoken about this at the start of the summer to get off to a good start. Still the start of the series, two more games to go though. Did not get going. It was a tough wicket. I missed an opportunity today to settle things down. But a bit of a catch 22 situation for me it was to score runs or settle things down. Good to get wickets but that was only consolation. I guess the coach will have a chat with everyone. Especially with me I guess. I am probably bit of an over thinker. You just need to keep learning.

Quinton de Kock: I think the start we got both with the bat and the ball, that stood out. A bit disappointed that I threw my wicket away. I should have carried on. We should have won, say, with 8 wickets in hand. Need to get better for the next game. I have played against these guys and know that the next game can be theirs. They have got a great bowling line up.

It was the Proteas pace attack, though, that started things off so well for the visitors. Steyn rolled back the years and ripped through the top-order before some excellent bowling in the middle-overs by Phehlukwayo made the middle order succumb to the pressure. Tahir and Ngidi chipped in with a couple of wickets too, and a run out by Miller wrapped things up.

17:37 Local Time, 15:07 IST: Ever thought about how to announce yourself on Australian soil? This is it. There are teams that struggle under pressure, applied solely by the banter thrown at them by the 11 men at the center - and then there's the crowd, that make their displeasure known. You dare think about beating Australia in front of us? Oh well, they've been silenced - at least for the day. There's been some bad blood between the two sides since Newlands, and Australian cricket is in need of a lift. A performance like this won't help their cause.

Stoinis to Miller, 2 runs, on the pads, the meekest way Australia could have conceded, and that's clipped away off the legs behind square leg for a brace to finish off the formalities. The visitors go 1-0 up! And this one's for the bowlers! A fantastic effort by the Protea pace attack up front, leaving the batsmen with very little to do...

David Miller, left handed bat, comes to the crease

Can Miller, the new man, finish it off without too many alarms?

Stoinis to Klaasen, out Caught by Finch!! Goes for glory, only to perish. On a back of a length outside off, seaming in, Klaasen throws his bat at it, trying to go through the line, ends up driving inside the line and gets an outside edge that flies to Finch at slip. Fantastic catch, but it's far too late now. Klaasen c Finch b Stoinis 2(5)

Stoinis to Klaasen, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

2 runs to win. 21 overs to go. Even 21 balls to go would've been a cakewalk.

28.3

Starc to du Plessis, no run, half-volley served up on off, a crisp drive to mid-off, but can't find the gap

28.2

South Africa one hit away...
