So, 1-0 it is from the Rose Bowl. Seems like a lot more given the way things went today. A dampener of a contest. But Taunton, with its batting paradise stretching across 22-yards could be just the kick the stroke-makers in the South African side need. That would be it from us today. On behalf of Vineet Anantharaman, Raju Peethala and Praveen, it is a wrap. Ta ta!!

Jonny Bairstow, Man of the Match: Was just a stretch when I called the physio. But I am fine now. Pretty pleased with my form, have a few shots I did not have 18 months ago. With that comes confidence and I am feeling good. It is all about being clinical, we do not want to leave it to anyone else and get over the line. That is how we want to be as a side. We want to be the best we can be and that is what we did today. The lads bowled exceptionally, taking wickets upfront and then the spinners tied them down. We play the game to win it and that is why it is enjoyable. Obviously, Taunton should be a good pitch and high scoring because of what we've seen the pitches down there produce. Excited to get there.

Morgan: To be honest I thought we were excellent. We picked early wickets, they came back hard but we still did well by containing them. The spinners managed to tie up the best players of our generation. They never let them get away, two inexperienced bowlers bowling on their home ground and they did really well. The ball wasn't coming onto the bat as we thought and they were bowling into the pitch to keep it tight. The major thing about new guys coming in is to keep them in the moment, the skill level will follow in the international stage. Today, they were very impressive. It isn't something that comes easy, we've tried before. We've chopped and changed a bit in Abu Dhabi when we played Pakistan and pulled it off. It is important that the 15-16 in the squad buy into this and keep going. When Jason gets us to a start it works for us like a treat with Alex in a partnership. When we are chasing a score like 140, a flier at the start helps us immensely. The last time we played South Africa in the World Cup, he did play a major role in getting off with a blinder. Another 4-5 overs and he would win you a game. He is a major part of the white ball format and we value him. Bairstow is so hungry to do well, chances for him have been few and far in between but he has done tremendously for us. Joe Root is not an easy player to kick out of the side but he has been exceptional.

AB de Villiers: We were trying to use the pace a little bit. It was very difficult to clear the infield in front of square. Unfortunately came up on the wrong side of it. We were trying to be a bit positive even after the early wickets. It showed that once there was some width it was easy to hit through the line but that changed later on. The spinners bowled good lines all through and kept it tight. A little bit of moisture in the afternoon and they got the better side of it. From the 13th over Fudge (Behardien) and I tried to have a go looking for 10 runs an over, but it wasn't enough. A couple of overs in the first six did not go our way. We started well with two overs and I was pleased after that. I do not think we could have done anything different. A couple of good shots and a couple of moments where we missed out. We are away from home with the crowd getting behind the home team; which is a good learning curve from a mental and a skill point of view. As a batsman too we have to look to be a step ahead of the bowlers. It isn't the end of the road for us, we go to Taunton and look forward to a better performance.

All too easy. All too comprehensive. Showing the world that events at Cardiff were just an aberration. This is the new England, too good for a toothless attack that the South Africans presented. Sealing it in under 15 overs. Not just the game, the English have smashed the Protea egos too in the process. To be fair, the first innings was where the game seemed to have decided, with AB and FB just not getting a move on in the middle stages as the spinners spun a web to cramp out the run-scoring. Just as troubled they made it seem, Bairstow, Hales and Roy compensated to bring it back to normalcy. With some stunning blows and innovations to all parts of the ground to finish with 33 balls to spare. Hang in there, the presentations coming your way..

14.3

Phehlukwayo to Bairstow, 1 run, that's that. A tame end of sorts after the smacking we've witnessed tonight. Squeezes out a fullish delivery just past the pitch off the inside-edge ricocheting on the pad and steals the single, steals the game

14.2

Phehlukwayo to Bairstow, no run, another short one. This time Bairstow decides to pull out of anything. Resists

14.1

4

Phehlukwayo to Bairstow, FOUR, the upper cut was remaining. Not any more. Gets the short one on the body, one that follows him through as he arches back. But sticks the bat up in time to ramp it through the cordon. Scores level

Andile Phehlukwayo [1.0-0-6-1] is back into the attack

13.6

Shamsi to Bairstow, 1 run, a stroll after tapping it back past the bowler. 5 needed now. One stroke?

13.5

Shamsi to Bairstow, 2 runs, another cream through the line. Lofted and wide of long-off

13.4

Shamsi to Bairstow, no run, stands and swings, cross batted. For a change he doesn't connect

13.3

F

Shamsi to Bairstow, FOUR, the drill. The electric drill. And it gets him to his second half-ton. All the loop to give him all the time in moving away and slices it hard. The covers once again

13.2

Shamsi to Bairstow, no run, starting on from middle to turn a touch in. Behind the line and stern in defence

13.1

Shamsi to Bairstow, 2 runs, glides inside with a tuck through square leg. Realizes the ground the fielder has to mop and never mind the cramp, the second is always on

Tabraiz Shamsi [2.0-0-14-0] is back into the attack

Watching the hard-hitting seems to have Bairstow some sort of a cramp. The heat stroke could have got to him too. Physio time. Gets out the ORS.

Tahir

3-0-37-0

12.6

Tahir to Hales, SIX, and it gets bigger. Several rows into the stands this time. FB only need to catch the chuck back from the crowd this time. Clears the front leg, sinks and slogs it away, to its doom

12.5

4

Tahir to Hales, FOUR, a drop. And a roll away into the ropes. Can it really get worse? A tonk this from Hales, going high, and higher. Behardien at long-on, comes in, and then back-pedals. Gets the reverse cup up as well. Bursts through the fingers and onto his face before he recovers to find it into the fence

12.4

Tahir to Bairstow, 1 run, just a push. And past cover
