A high scoring game. The bowlers went into a hiding. England take a 1-0 lead. Their batters and the sloppy fielders of SA meant the big total was always enough despite a heroic knock from Stubbs. The T20 festival is just starting out as the WC ain't too far away. We will get you all the details as the action rolls on.

Mo Ali, Player of the Match: It was a nice time to go in. I as a left-hander went in to keep the right-left combo. It is not easy to score on this pitch. I back myself against the spinners. Jonny is so strong and powerful. We bat well together. It is a great wicket. I try to keep my shape and hit it.

Jos Buttler: Great performance from the team. Guys stood up. Jonny Bairstow batted well. He is having a great summer. Dawid Malan has been incredibly consistent as well. Mo Ali is one of the most stylish players. You are looking to give him more and more responsibilities. I think pacers bowled with great pace. CJ bowled the 18th over and changed the game a little. I think it is about getting a feel about what the guys are feeling. If you execute here, you get away with it.

David Miller: The boys have been travelling around. It was a good wicket. Phenomenal knock from Stubbs. They were 90 odd in the first and demolished us in the last 10. We dropped 4-5 catches and that didn't help. We will sort it out by tomorrow. Played in the local T20 and a phenomenal competition. Nice to see him do it on the big stage. Ngidi's five for 39 was phenomenal bowling.

21:59 Local Time, 20:59 GMT, 02:29 IST: Dropped catches, some poor bowling and the Bairstow-Ali partnership has helped England take a 1-0 lead. And yes, Jordan's accurate death bowling also sealed off the win for England when Stubbs was unstoppable at one point. SA were two down for almost nothing while chasing 235 and that ensured it needed some magical knocks for them to even come close. Hendricks and Stubbs did their part but that was never enough. England making a meal of the bowling in the last few overs clearly got them a few more than par. The margin of the win might be 41 runs but when Stubbs was hitting them clean, it seemed this game might as well go down to the wire.

Richard Gleeson to Phehlukwayo, out Caught by Adil Rashid!! Slower delivery, higher as well and Phehlukwayo gently clips that off the hips to find the man at square leg. Easy take for the fielder. England have another one in their bag and so is the case with the game. Gleeson ends an expensive spell. Phehlukwayo c Adil Rashid b Richard Gleeson 22(17) [4s-3]

Richard Gleeson to Rabada, out Bowled!! And gone. The batter backs away to to lift but misses the line to be clean bowled. That was a full and straight ball for the batter to miss it.
