May not have been a great captaincy outing for Pant. Chahal in the powerplay when you have Axar who is more suited for a pressure-building over with field up. We have seen Chahal excel with a spread field and he strung three dots straightaway after the powerplay. And the Purple cap holder was not given the full quota and only used again when the game was almost done in the final over. Was dew the reason why Chahal wasn't bowled out? It's a learning curve for everyone and this series is off to a great start. Teams now head to the eastern coast to Cuttack for the next game. Two days off and then back on field for Super Sunday. Great weekend, everyone!
David Miller 2.0 has been a beast. He played some brilliant cameos for South Africa, then came to the IPL and finished games off in style. He was the enforcer today. He injected life into that dressing room which was down after three wickets and RvD struggling at the other end. You may even say he inspired RvD to turn on the heat to leave the Indians baffled.
David Miller | PoTM: Obviosuly a lot of hard work has gone in over the last few years understanding my game a lot better. You need two players playing a part while chasing. Rassie played phenomenally well at the back end with some big overs. Chuffed with the result. Just try and hang in there was the chat (With Rassie). He was trying to go but he wasn't getting it. Just about limiting dot balls and waiting for that loose ball. Belief (one thing that has transformed his career). Understanding winning more games and more consistency gives you more belief. I am pretty open to bat anywhere. Just want to make a difference.
Temba Bavuma | South Africa captain: We expected the wicket to get better as the night went on. Fortunately the batting came through. Bit tricky to assess the bowling. It was fair considering how good that wicket was. He (Ishan Kishan) made it look very easy. They put us under pressure when our spinners were bowling. Always had a left-right combo that didn't allow us to settle. proper batting display. David carried his form and well supported by Rassie. Just need to build from this performance. It was a good wicket, probably we can read the situation a bit better, especially the spinners. I am being overly critical because the pitch was good. We will take that result. We have a lot of belief in Rassie. We have seen him do that time and time again where he kind of starts slowly and then finds a way to bring it back at the end. He is a guy we can see as a finisher in our team. Him partnering with David does make out batting explosive. It was hot but wasn't so humid. Cut down on some training and make sure everyone is fit.
Rishabh Pant | India captain: We had enough on the board, but I think we were a little off with the execution. But sometimes you got to give credit to the opposition. Miller and RvD batted well. Slower balls were working when we batted, but the wicket got better in the second innings. Mostly we executed our plans (to Miller) but the wicket got better and better. We were very happy with the total but next time we are in a similar situation we will do better.
Rassie van der Dussen: Pretty good. We had a good week of preparation in these conditions, bit sticky there in the middle but David's such a good player, he pulled me through that little patch. We knew if we were there till the end then we would win it. I always knew I was just two boundaries away, it was not because of lack of intent, I was clear in my mind what I wanted to do but it didn't come off, you need to be mentally tough through that patch and not give it away, when you take 30 balls your team expects you to do something special. I have had a game plan that has worked for me in the last few years, the good thing of our dugout and coaching team is that they trust, I was a touch slow today and need to work on that. Dwaine had clear instructions and he gave us that flying start, we knew if we bat well we could chase this and to have that belief. Sometimes the strangest things that make a difference, seems like it (change of bat changed his luck).

22:28 Local Time, 16:58 GMT, 22:28 IST: What an outstanding run chase this is from South Africa and the dressing room is all pumped up. An unbeaten 131-run stand off just 63 balls to take the Proteas home. The visitors were under pressure right after the powerplay. The pressure increased further with RvD playing dots after dots. But nothing stopped Miller at the other end. Continued his great form and smacked a 22-ball fifty. Meanwhile a broken bat changed RvD's life today. He started middling the ball and looked like a different batter once he changed the bat and Miller took the back seat to see his partner unleash on the Indian bowlers. India had 12 consecutive wins in T20Is and needed one more for the world record and they weren't good enough with the ball today.
Chahal to van der Dussen, FOUR, reverse sweep and it's in the gap past backward point. It's so fitting that RvD gets the winning runs. Was 22 off 25 at one point, scored 53 runs in the next 21 balls. This is the highest successful chase for South Africa ever and they have also stopped India from getting the world record for most succcessive wins in T20Is
Yuzvendra Chahal [2.0-0-22-0] is back into the attack

Harshal Patel to van der Dussen, 1 run, very full delivery, van der Dussen swings it away to short fine leg, fumble and a single
Harshal Patel to van der Dussen, FOUR, surprise short delivery, RvD clearly late on the pull but this seems to have gone off the glove/edge and beaten short third man
Harshal Patel to van der Dussen, leg byes, 2 runs, brilliant dipping slower delivery, RvD walks across and misses, looked plumb. If the decision was not given because the onfield umpire thought impact was too far ahead from the stumps, kudos to him. That looked out for all money. But again, it's just umpire's call so if it was given out would have been out
If RvD did not get bat on this, he could be in trouble here. Review for LBW. How was that not given on-field? Oh dear, it's umpire's call only because the impact was over 3m from the stumps. That ball was smacking the base of middle stump.
Harshal Patel to van der Dussen, no run, oh he stepped forward and across for a might heave over mid-wicket, but Harshal Patel beats him with a brilliant dipping slower delivery
Harshal Patel to Miller, 1 run, low full toss, Miller flicks to backward square leg
