South Africa won by 42 runs
PLAYER OF THE MATCH : David Miller
Batter
Bowler
A really one-sided game throughout. In the first 30-40 minutes, Ireland were all over South Africa and then, once the visitors steadied themselves, there was no looking back. When Miller has one of his 'Killer Miller' outings, there is little the opposition can do. Except maybe take their catches, which Ireland didn't. Their batting certainly has been a big issue and the hosts will want to work on that. Let's hope that the final game of the series is a more competitive one. On that note, this is Hari Sadanandan signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy, Sriram AS and Praveen. Cheers!
Temba Bavuma: Looking at the way we started, I think lot of people would have written us off. But he showed good fight, and got ourselves to a respectable total. We have a lot of belief in our bowlers and we knew that the pitch was having something in it. At the halfway mark, we knew that if our bowlers hit their straps, we would do good. He (Miller) was really good. He and Mulder really solidifed the middle order for us. We have a lot of guys with potential, it's really nice to see.
David Miller | Player of the Match: It was nice to contribute and a great win for the boys. I'm really chuffed. Losing a couple upfront never helps. Wiann batted beautifully and showed what he is made of. We got a good rebuild and it all exploded at the end. They (bowlers) have been phenomenal all series. Guys are coming through nicely. It (T20 WC) is the ultimate goal of course. We're trying to build towards it.
Andrew Balbirnie: Disappointing with the bat again. We bowled well again and fielded well. But yeah, we didn't apply ourselves with the bat at all. The spinners bowled well for us. Clearly it's a batting issue for us and we have to address that. It (next game) gives us another chance to redeem ourselves.
19:14 Local Time, 18:14 GMT, 23:44 IST: Ireland were never really in this chase at any point. Yes, there were a few blows early from Dockrell but even that didn't really threaten the Proteas. It was another batting disaster from the home side batters who all tried too hard, instead of playing smart cricket on a two-paced surface. Once they lost wickets early, it was always going to be difficult in the middle overs with Shamsi in red-hot form. The wrist spinner once again had a great outing, as did most of the SA bowlers to ensure a thumping win for South Africa. 'Catches win matches' they say and this game is another example to that. Miller was 19(19) when Tucker dropped a sitter behind the stumps and it was the dashing batsman's knock that proved to be the gamechanger eventually.
Ngidi to Joshua Little, out Bowled!! Cleans him up! The old-fashioned yorker on the base of off stump, Little was backing away early and couldn't get his bat down in time. SA seal the T20I series with back-to-back massive wins. Relief on de Kock's face, probably echoes all his mates' feelings too after the way the ODIs went. Joshua Little b Ngidi 9(11) [4s-1]
