So that's all from this first ODI. Valuable 10 points for Sri Lanka who have struggled in the World Cup Super League so far. South Africa weren't too bad either and definitely seem to have it in them to bounce back. Makes for an interesting series. That's for later. We'll be back with the second ODI on Saturday. Until then it's goodbye.
Dasun Shanaka | Sri Lanka captain: Very good win. They came into the game and our bowlers pulled it back. We started really well. Plan was to bat until 40 overs and then get the momentum going. It was turning in the first innings. We expected the ball to turn in second but it didn't. Spinners did well despite that. It is hard to chase on this wicket, 300 is a good total. We are not allowed to get net bowlers because of the pandemic. Having not enough bowlers is a challenge.
Maharaj came for the presentation as Bavuma was injured.
Keshav Maharaj: He's (Bavuma) going for a scan. We'll know tomorrow but he's a fighter. The surface was really good. Small mistakes here and there. Positive signs to take forward. I just tried to hit my area and be as consistent as possible, luckily came off. We had good preparation in the build up. Turning point was Temba hurting finger and going off. Credit to Sri Lankan bowlers.
Avishka Fernando | Player of the Match: I didn't start the innings well but I wanted to stay in the middle and take it forward. In the build up to this series played some domestic cricket and had good preparation.
23:12 Local Time, 17:42 GMT, 23:12 IST: There were a couple of good knocks for South Africa in different parts of the chase. Markram made a strokeful 96, and the visitors were really looking good till he was there, which was around the halfway mark. It was followed by an enterprising knock by Rassie van der Dussen who used the sweeps and reverse-sweeps superbly to throw the Lankan spinners off their game, and revived the chase after it had stalled following Markram's departure. But Sri Lanka were able to get rid of both of them at crucial junctures. Dew was a factor in the second innings, but Hasaranga still bowled well and Dananjaya picked a couple of wickets, while Jayawickrama and Dhananjaya de Silva kept things tight. Together they did enough to squeeze out a win. Wasn't much in it, and South Africa will probably look back at their death bowling which wasn't great today.

Chameera to Maharaj, no run, yorker length outside off, driven to extra cover. Sri Lanka win by 14 runs
Keshav Maharaj, right handed bat, comes to the crease
Chameera to Klaasen, out Klaasen Run Out!! 1 run completed. Klaasen's been run out at the striker's end. He was always struggling coming back for two but what gave him hope was that the throw from long-on was well wide of the stumps. But the keeper does so brilliantly. He first gathers what seemed a difficult take, and then flicks it onto the stumps. Klaasen run out (Karunaratne/M Bhanuka) 36(31) [4s-2]
Chameera to Klaasen, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!
Chameera to Rabada, 1 run, low full toss on off, driven to extra cover. Technically that should be the game barring any extras
Chameera to Rabada, FOUR, gets it over mid-off again as Chameera misses the blockhole. If he's going to be bowling that length it's probably better to push the fielder back
Chameera to Rabada, 2 runs, pitched up around off, Rabada swipes it wide of long-on
Chameera to Rabada, FOUR, overpitched on middle, Rabada clears the front leg and lofts over mid-off
The reserve players applaud from the dugout. Have done that each of the previous three overs as Sri Lanka have strengthened their grip. Hard to lose with 27 to defend off the final over

Karunaratne to Klaasen, 2 runs, full toss outside off, slogs it wide of long-on but it doesn't have enough timing behind it
Karunaratne to Rabada, 1 run, overpitched on off, driven back nicely but it hits the stumps at the other end
Karunaratne to Klaasen, 1 run, full and wide, Klaasen carves it out to sweeper cover
Karunaratne to Rabada, 1 run, short of length outside off, swatted to long-on
Karunaratne to Rabada, no run, short of length outside off, Rabada swings and misses as the ball loops over him
