You really can't complain about the pitch. Was so good to see the bowlers always be in the game but QdK, Markram, RVdD and Chase showed that there's runs to be had if you come out with a determined head. Yesterday Cornwall got some purchase, today Maharaj did, so it was overall an exciting Test match surface. Pressure on West Indies now to save the series and more importantly get some vital points. Teams get extra two days off and will be back here at the same venue on Friday for the final Test. The game will be played on the adjacent strip to this game and we usually get sporting wickets in this ground. That's a wrap of proceedings then. South Africa have their confidence sky high, West Indies will have to deep dive for some honest answers. We will see you all for the second Test. Take care!

de Kock | Player of the Match: Haven't given it much thought yet. Obviously a proud moment, got the team into a good position. Glad we got over the line. It's just a group of friends of ours back home, the rhino conversation I do, one of the friends got deployed in Afghanistan (what was the three finger celebration about?) and got one of his fingers shot off. I said I'll acknowledge him when I get an accolade when I'm batting. We had a good laugh about it last night. Our friends group went crazy last night when I got to the phone. I asked Dean how do you think we should go about it. He said hog the strike with the last two wickets and in doing that try to look for boundaries. That's what I tried to do and it came off. It's quite an awesome place to keep. But in saying that the ball wobbles quite a bit and doesn't make it easy.

Dean Elgar | South Africa captain: Very much impressed. Collective effort from the side. Massive effort from the guys, asked them to score hundreds and take fifers and we've already had three accolades. Tough question to answer (asked if he would have batted first). Firm believer in runs on the board first, but we knew the wicket is going to help the seamers in the first session. Great to see our batting unit pass 300. Quinny, AIden, Rassie.. they played well. The basics of bowling is what the bowlers did well here. We knew the wicket is going to assist the bowlers. We were pleased to be bowling on this wicket. Because of Covid we have larger squad where you can tick a lot of boxes. We've done the right thing by selecting the spinners in our side. Lungi was brilliant, he executed the basics of bowling to the T. Quinny showed what a world class cricketer and batter that he is. KG is one of those guys who puts in hardwork. Anrich is a massive trump card for our bowling attack. Helps to have a 140+ bowler. Great to have a player like him in our team.

Brathwaite | West Indies captain: I think so (right decision at the toss?). Saw today there was variable bounce. Pitch was dry. Didn't bat well in the first innings. We didn't get a big enough total and were always on the back foot. Even batting second, I still thought we didn't bat as well as we could. As a bowling group we bowled well. Jayden Seales was magnificent in his first game. Batting wise today Roston Chase showed fight. We can take that as batsmen going forward into the second Test. Seales is a special talent, he has a natural length. His future will be bright for sure. During the series there's not much to work on. Obviously a little break. The guys to come back and hit their straps. Test cricket is more mental than technical.

Being a free strokeplayer, Quinny showed good application to treat the bowling on merit with quite of bit of movement available in the air and off the pitch. Once he wore West Indies out mentally, he brought his brutal side out in him to help stamp authority. An unbeaten 141 - his highest in Tests - meant South Africa had a massive 225-run lead. With the likes of Rabada, Nortje and Ngidi in the bowling ranks and the pitch still holding some grass, West Indies needed to have put in one of their finest batting displays ever, but the Proteas bowlers were at work in full swing second effort too. Roston Chase showed some fight with a fifty, but Holder's shocking leave exposed the lower order sooner than West Indies would have wanted and KG Rabada ran in to complete his 9th five-wicket haul in Tests.

12:35 Local Time, 16:35 GMT, 22:05 IST: A fantastic victory by an innings and 63 runs by lunch on the third day of the Test match. Dean Elgar will be really proud of his team. Before start of play today coach Mark Boucher did say that it has been a perfect game for them from losing the toss, bowling out the hosts under 100, managing 300+ and then coming out strong with the ball again. South Africa purely winning this on attitude. Didn't bother about the toss and instead focused on the potential help the pitch was to offer and didn't let elsewhere. Ngidi yesterday said that the captain was strict on them for not bowling enough in the fullish length zone in the first session on Day 1. They corrected themselves post lunch and bowled West Indies out for 97. Markram's 60 wiped off the deficit and then began the Quinton de Kock show.
