Zimbabwe won by 5 runs (DLS method - reduced to 49-overs per side due to rain)
PLAYER OF THE MATCH : Tendai Chisoro
Bowler
West Indies are ranked ninth in the official ICC ODI rankings and this result will not help their cause. If the same trend continues, they might have to play the qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup. Well, coming to this tri-series, Zimbabwe will take on Sri Lanka on Sunday here at Bulawayo. Don't forget to join us for the final. Until then, it's a goodbye from Abhinand Raghavendran, Sriram and Srivathsa.
Man of the Match, Tendai Chisoro: "Doesn't matter whether I am the man of the match or not. Great feeling is winning the match and go to the finals. We gave back something to the home crowd that came out to support us today. During the lunch break, they told me, I'll be opening the bowling. I've done it before in the T20s. We needed to get early wickets to get the momentum to our side. It was a good feeling."

Cremer: "Happy obviously. No one likes the game to be game interrupted by rain. We were really under the pump at one one stage and then the partnership helped us. The way guys came out and bowled was brilliant. Credit to the guys. Definitely the pitch was a lot different. It didn't spin as much for us. We're hoping the rain stays away for the finals. And hopefully the crowd turn up and are involved in a good game. I thought they (West Indies) were unlucky. They played really good cricket, but we're happy."
Holder: "We're all disappointed. Not able to finish the game. Credit to the way Zimbabwe played. We didn't bowl well in the last overs and lost a couple of early wickets up front. Raza played well. We need to develop the killer instinct. We need to gel and understand each other. Obviously, fell short. I try to do the best for this team. It's always important to lead from the front. The hospitality was very good. We had a good time. It's my first time here, thoroughly enjoyed. Would have been better if we'd made it to the final. Congratulations to the Zimbabwe cricket team. Thank you for the Zimbabwe public as well."
Who would have thought of this outcome, especially after the first two games? West Indies have none but themselves to blame. After involving in two close encounters, they were bossing this match reducing the hosts to 127-8 in the 37th over. That's when Tendai Chisoro walked into the scene with a highest ODI score of 12. He along with Sikandar Raza, were involved in one of the greatest partnerships in Zimbabwean cricket history. They put on a record (for Zimbabwe) 91-run unbeaten stand for the ninth wicket which helped the hosts post a respectable score of 218. Chisoro's confidence was evidently sky-high after his stint with the bat. He was given the new ball and struck gold as he removed both the openers within a span of eight balls, which included the prized scalp of Evin Lewis. Shai Hope came out with a counter-attacking plan and that eventually proved against him as he played one shot too many. Kraigg Brathwaite and Carter looked to weather the storm, but that's when a hurricane hit in the form of a run-out and a wild shot which reduced the Caribbeans five down for 93. Jason Holder in his brief stay looked to up the ante and get the score past the par DLS, but he couldn't as the rain gods' praises were showered on the home team. Presentation in a while..
17:26 Local Time, 15:26 GMT, 20:56 IST: Well, there's the fateful news. Persistent drizzle means Zimbabwe win this must-win encounter by DLS method. They pip the Windies on the points table by one point and go through to the finals. Both captains have a word with the umpires and shake hands.
17:10 Local Time, 15:10 GMT: The cut-off time for the game to restart is 17.34 local. Just around 20 minutes from now.
Here''s a tweet from Roshan Abeysinghe: "Its still drizzling! Its unlikely we will play here!"
16:38 Local Time, 14:38 GMT, 20:08 IST: It's still raining, and possibility of further play looks bleak. With every passing moment, West Indies' chance of qualifying diminishes.
Plugin:hys:Deepak says: West Indies team adapt themselves better in T20 than ODIs that''s the reason they throw close matches from their pocket
Plugin:hys:Cricbuzz asks: If West Indies fail to make it to the finals, do they have themselves to blame? After a comprehensive win against Sri Lanka in their inaugural match, they have been involved in one tie (against Zimbabwe) and a 1-run defeat (against Sri Lanka). In both those matches, they threw away the game from a winning position. Can you pinpoint a specific reason why they are in a situation like this? Also, do you think Zimbabwe deserve to qualify for the finals? Do let us know. The best responses will get a mention here.
16:04 Local Time, 14:04 GMT, 19:34 IST: The umpires have a conversation and they order the groundsmen to bring in the covers. Holder doesn't want to leave. Very serious faces in the West Indies changing room, The DLS par score after 27.3 overs is 129. Just a slight drizzle, but we might have a long delay. The forecast isn't great. Zimbabwe won't mind this. If play doesn't restart, the hosts will be through to the finals to face Sri Lanka. Lots at stake. Stay tuned for further updates..
