Bangladesh were riding high with three emphatic wins, only to be smashed back to earth today. At least this hasn't come in the final, so that's a saving grace. If they were under any false assumptions about their competition, those have been ruthlessly blown away by Sri Lanka. We'll see if the hosts recover in time for the final. Join us on Saturday. Until then, it's a goodbye from Sagar Chawla, Raju Peethala, Varun Dixit and our scorer Sultan.

Suranga Lakmal, MoM: We've made some plans in the last few days as a bowling unit. Our team has done a lot of hard work too.

Chandimal, winning captain: This is what we're capable of. Boys executed well. Credit to all the players. We had gameplans before the start. We can control when we're fielding. Especially Suranga bowled really well at the start. Upul and Danushka finished it really well. Credit to Bangladesh also, they've played some outstanding cricket. We wanted to attack them. Gunathilaka made a fantastic run-out and took a brilliant catch. Credit to him also.

Mortaza, losing captain: I hope so (if this is a wake-up call). Good thing that our middle order has been exposed. Hopefully they'll find out their mistakes. Mushfiq had a good innings. Hopefully they will deliver in the final. They're working hard, can't complain. It's good it's happened before the final. All batters pointed it was a good wicket to bat on. Maybe the application wasn't there. Maybe we could have scored at least 180-200.

15:07 Local Time, 09:07 GMT, 14:37 IST: Bangladesh have had a shocker today, going down to their heaviest defeat against Sri Lanka in terms of balls left. It was a game where a win would have taken Sri Lanka to the final, and their body language showed how badly they wanted this. Suranga Lakmal set the tone with the ball, with appreciable help from Danushka Gunathilaka who was on fire in the field. Thisara Perera followed it up brilliantly, and then Bangladesh did the rest as they crumbled to 82 - their eighth lowest ODI total. The two Lankan openers had no problems in hammering the target down, thereby finishing it off with around half an hour left for the lunch break. Crazy..
