Camouflage isn't a thing in international cricket. Cannot be. Australia have their first-choice players playing in India and pay the karmic price for some utterly witless scheduling. Sri Lanka have plain exploited that, and the fact that they were looked down as an opposition Australia could afford to do that against. And I'm a T20 fan now; it gives me hope, especially when 174 can be hunted down from the abyss of 40/5. Long day.. your commentator Pratyush Sinha takes leave, and so do my colleagues Akshay Maanay and Naga. Take care, ta-ta!
Upul Tharanga - captain, Sri Lanka: "Great support at Melbourne and this game also. That was an amazing innings (by Gunaratne). He did well in South Africa too. We lost too many wickets earlier but Gunaratne finished the game for us. It is (a great achievement) to win in Australia with a young team, where many are on their first tour."
Aaron Finch - captain, Australia: "Hell of an innings. You can take nothing away, pure strokes. The way we bowled in the powerplay and the middle was outstanding. But when you get a good player in good form, they hurt you. Sri Lanka played very well. We thought we had enough runs. We had enough runs for the wicket, but the outfield had pockets that were hard to defend. Being on the receiving end is never good."
Asela Gunaratne - Player of the Match: "Really happy." (That's all he speaks, do NOT blame me..)
11:00pm local: What a game this turned out to be. 5-1.. 22-2.. 27-3.. 40-4.. 40-5.. inside the fifth over and Sri Lanka have managed to pull off a win from there, gee! Let's be honest: on a pitch that was holding up right through, a target of 174 was above par. But then again, Sri Lanka are going through one of the phases that feels like Meryl Streep's Hollywood career. They just find ways to make a mark, and win. Kudos to Gunaratne for walking in when the match looked lost, persevering and timing the big hits when most people surrender to their nerves and give up. 50 runs were scored off the last three overs and an innings of 84 off 46 from Gunaratne took Sri Lanka to a mighty good series win. Great follow-up to the one in South Africa. Fun fact: Australia have never beaten Sri Lanka in a T20I on their home soil

Andrew Tye to Asela Gunaratne, FOUR, Sri Lanka win their fifth consecutive T20I over Australia in Australia - they have won all of them! - and win the series. Gets a length ball and Gunaratne lifts it over the infield, through wide long-off
Gee, my fingers!
Andrew Tye to Malinga, 1 run, slower short of length delivery, hacked half-in-control over mid-wicket. 2 needed for a win, 1 needed for a Super Over!
Andrew Tye to Asela Gunaratne, 1 run, oh he gets off-strike. Worked it round the corner and cannot come back for the second. All onto Malinga now. 3 needed off 2!
Andrew Tye to Asela Gunaratne, SIX, shake hands with Asela Gunaratne tonight. He's the man. He's mistimed this but he's about to be a hero for Sri Lanka. Toe-ends the back foot punch and that's just carried over the long-off fence
Andrew Tye to Asela Gunaratne, FOUR, he just keeps going. Gets a full toss in charity and he focuses on timing it down the ground. One bounce and over. Could have been hurried and went for the wild slog that's caught in the deep. Didn't. Keeps the strike
Lasith Malinga, right handed bat, comes to the crease
14 needed off 5
Andrew Tye to Kulasekara, out Caught by Klinger!! Asela Gunaratne needs to get back on strike. Kulasekara doesn't read the slower ball, is lured by the length and looks to loft it over the infield on the off-side. Can only do so off the cue end, and the cover fielder backtracks to take a good catch. Was under pressure but Klinger holds onto it. Kulasekara c Klinger b Andrew Tye 12(8) [4s-2]
Andrew Tye to Kulasekara, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Henriques to Asela Gunaratne, FOUR, and a boundary.. 14 needed off the last over. When did this happen, when? Stands back and smacks a ball, all flat-batted, over extra cover. 22 runs off the over!
Henriques to Asela Gunaratne, no run, ah, he's missed one here. Completely hungover with the last shot he played, he's tried to play a full ball outside off into the leg-side. Could have easily played it away for a single but the ball dips under his wild bat swing
Henriques to Asela Gunaratne, SIX, a hat-trick of sixes! A hat-trick, yes. 18 off 8 needed. Picks the ball from outside off and swings it over long leg. Comfortably over
