And that, ladies and gents, is a wrap of the Australian season. We hope you liked what we typed and a huge 'thank you' for all the feedback and comments. Lots of cricket coming your way; keep tracking this space for all the latest in the game. Until next time, this is Raju Peethala wishing you goodbye on behalf of Varun Dixit and Mukesh Gowda. Cheers!!

Tim Paine collects the Warne-Muralitharan Trophy from the legendary Michael Hussey and the rest of the group swarm around pretty quickly. They smile in unison and pose for the cameras. A sight that many Australian fans missed during the best part of their summer. There is no such thing called 'bad time'. It's all cooked up to mess your heads. Look at Australia and Mitchell Starc, don't rule out Usman Khawaja too. Has been an extremely tough summer for them and boy, did they respond! Sri Lanka continue to sell the 'young and inexperienced' theory yet again. It's about time they chin up and clear the rust in domestic cricket, if any. Finishing with a series win should settle some nerves in the Aussie camp, especially with World Cup and Ashes lurking round the corner. They will tour India next for some white-ball action towards the end of this month while Sri Lanka have another pace bowling examination waiting in South Africa starting on 13 February. Gee, [Steyn Rabada Philander]. I better leave it there....

"Good to get reward for putting a lot of hard work. This group has been working really hard. We were 30/3 in both the innings, Travis in both the innings and Burns in the first innings showed great maturity. I thought the pacers worked really well as a group. We believe we have been working really hard and we are on the right track. I would like to thank Chandimal for coming here, it is never easy to come overseas. I would like to thank my support staff, it has been a long summer and they have worked really hard to get us better. I also want to thank Cricket Australia and sponsors, the last 12 months have been hard, thanks for sticking with us. Also to our fans, we started this summer trying to win your respect back and we wanted to make you guys proud. We are really looking forward for the next 12 months of cricket, " a vibrant-looking Tim Paine, the Australian skipper after ending the tough summer on a high.

"We were outplayed as a team in all departments. Credit goes to Australia, they have played some outstanding cricket throughout the series and they deserved to win like this. It was really tough in the last 6 months, we couldn't get right combination to finalize our best eleven and that's one area we are concerned about. If you get a chance to play for your country, you gotta grab it with both hands. We are a young team and we are always learning how to play in these tough conditions and I'm sure the boys will come back really strong in South Africa," a grim-looking yet positive Dinesh Chadimal, the losing captain, Sri Lanka.

"Pretty happy with the whole summer. Obviously four tough Tests against India and happy with how we came out in this series. Happy to get the ball swinging around in the Gabba, here it is a bit different, but as a whole we bowled better and created pressure from both ends. We stuck to our aggression and it came off. That first morning could have gone either way with that partnership just sets up the whole game. I guess the pleasing thing is we got 6 months till the Ashes, but there's a lot of guys in the team that could be really proud of the last couple of Tests leading into that series," a thoroughly chuffed Australian vice captain and Man of the series, Patrick James Cummins.

"Tried to come in this week, forget everything and tried to bowl as fast as I could. It slowed down a touch towards the end but it's been a great week for the group. A few played the Shield game here and we had a fair idea about the pitch. We stuck to our plans. Patty's been on fire all summer, Jhye has been great and the batters have been fantastic this week to cap off a great summer. A summer that has been a bit indifferent, but great way to finish for the group. It's been the game we've been searching all summer and it is fantastic, and I guess the way we bowled this week was great," an elated Mitch Starc after receiving the Man of the Match award.

"It is an awesome feeling to win the series. Our last series victory was the Ashes. Starc bowled brilliantly in both the innings. I really enjoyed getting the hundred. I wanted to contribute more to the team. So, it was nice to get a hundred yesterday. Travis, Burns and KP were brilliant for us in the first innings. This summer was bit up and down but that is cricket and that is sport. it was a friendly banter with Dickwella yesterday. There is still a lot of cricket left before for the Ashes. Hopefully, guys will keep playing well," a relieved Usman Khawaja after notching up a ton in the second innings.

14:50 local: So, Australia win by 366 runs. A huge win margin that. Today was all about completing the formalities with a bit of rain around, and Australia did pretty well to wrap it up inside 2 sessions. 45 overs to be precise. Some of the grit, application and tenacity one witnessed during the first innings of the Sri Lankan batting disappeared totally in their second essay. There was none of it to be honest. Kept playing loose strokes outside off and gifted wickets to the pacers and found it extremely hard against Starc. No wonder Starc averages 18 with the ball against Sri Lanka. He was the biggest disappointment during the India series and if stats are anything to go by, he's delievered the best bowling performance of his career. 151.34kmph - his average speed in this Test match, the quickest he's ever bowled.

Starc to Fernando, out Bowled!! Wide of the crease and pins the base of middle stump with a fierce yorker. Typical Mitch Starc. Fifer in both innings and he's got ten in the game. Australia cleansweep Sri Lanka 2-0. First series win for the combo of Justin Langer and Tim paine. Handshakes all around. Travis Head, Kurtis Patterson pluck out a stump each as they trot back to the pavilion. Curtains down on the Australian summer. Fernando b Starc 0(9)

Starc to Fernando, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

50.5

Starc to Fernando, no run, full and down leg, past Fernando's flick

50.4

Starc to Fernando, no run, ah! This is so Trent Boult like! The back foot gets cemented outside leg stump and the front foot does a bit of tip-toeing trying to put bat to ball, Starc pounds it on a length and the ball skims past the off bail. In fact it seemed to have brushed the bail on Snicko

50.3

Starc to Fernando, no run, flashes at a full one outside off, no dice

50.2

Starc to Rajitha, 1 run, looks to work a full ball into the leg-side and gets a soft leading towards gully. A yes-no, yes-no for the single and they sneak through eventually

50.1

Starc to Rajitha, no run, full and swerving away on fifth stump, Rajitha pushes meekly and gets defeated on the outside edge. Starc has a wry smile on his face

Pat Cummins

49.6

Pat Cummins to Fernando, no run, that's almost Trent Boult like. Moves to the leg-side, gets his feet into a tangle and somehow jams the full ball into the pitch

49.5

Pat Cummins to Fernando, no run, opens the bat face and looks to steer, such is Cummins' pace that it takes the thick outside edge and dribbles towards the slip cordon

49.4

Pat Cummins to Fernando, no run, fullish and angling in, Fernando closes the bat face and ends up splicing the push wide of mid-wicket

49.3

Pat Cummins to Fernando, no run, 134ks short ball just outside off, Fernando sways out of the way, quite hurriedly at that

49.2

Pat Cummins to Fernando, no run, pushed into the off-side
