Finch collects the trophy and the rest of the Australian players join him. They pose for the photographs as the fireworks go off. The 2021-22 Australian cricketing summer is concluded - almost a perfect one for the hosts. Won the Ashes 4-0 and have now followed it up with a 4-1 T20I series win over Sri Lanka in the shortest format. The T20 World Champions' next assignment is in the subcontinent. Australia will be touring Pakistan for the first time in 24 years - 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and a T20I. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be heading to India. The three-match T20I series begins on Thursday and will be followed by two Tests. It's time to bring down the curtains. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. For now, it's goodbye from Abhinand Raghavendran and Siva MD.

Aaron Finch: We were outplayed in the powerplay - with the bat and with the ball. That's where the difference was in the game. The partnership between Wade and Sams was outstanding, some really good stuff with the ball as well but probably wasn't quite enough in the end. I think we've got a lot of answers. It's been a fantastic series for players individually. For us to continue to grow as a team has been fantastic as well. Sri Lanka are a very dangerous side. To win four in a row was really good. To win five is really tough in this format of the game. (Positives) The flexibility of Josh Inglis throughout the order was fantastic. He showed that his game is well and truly suited to international cricket. The depth in our bowling continues to grow which is brilliant. The way Ash Agar came back into the side was unbelievable. He's bowled the house down.

Dasun Shanaka: The boys played really well throughout the series, they made a clear statement. When we come, we'll be really prepared for the World Cup. Unfortunately, we missed a few players in between, we could have done better this series. (On Kusal Mendis) He has been an outstanding player throughout, he was on and off in the last few years. When a player gets a consistent run, he performs and he'll be consistent. We should keep giving opportunities to the right players. I should thank all the Sri Lankans who supported throughout the series. So happy to see them again and again. See you soon in the World Cup.

Glenn Maxwell | Player of the Series: It was a really good performance, everyone chipped in at different stages. We saw the emergence of Josh Inglis on the international stage, he was outstanding and the spinners did the same job they've done for a long period of time, so well done to them. We were able to use a whole bunch of players in different situations as well. We've had a look at a few guys, we've still got a lot of games to go that World Cup that we are hosting here. It's nice to get a few games on home soil, we haven't played a lot of T20 cricket here, to get a big run is exciting.

Kusal Mendis | Player of the Match: Today was a very good game. The bowlers bowled very well in all the games. Charith and Shanaka batted very well today.

20:42 Local Time, 09:42 GMT, 15:12 IST: Sri Lanka avoid the whitewash and it's a happy dug-out! The bowlers did a superb job to restrict the Aussies to 154. And, they backed that performance with a good batting performance. They lost two wickets in the powerplay, but managed to score 54 off it. Kusal Mendis played a lot of high-risk shots at the start but was happy to drop anchor after the sixth over. Charith Asalanka, after the loss of two wickets, went after the Australian bowlers with aggressive shots but perished for a 9-ball 20 playing a premeditative shot. Mendis was involved in two run-outs and at 71/4, Sri Lanka were under a bit of pressure even though they were ahead of the rate. That's when skipper Shanaka joined hands with Mendis and the duo batted sensibly. They mixed caution with aggression perfectly and ensured that the asking-rate never crossed 10RPO. Shanaka hit a monstrous six in the final over and perished the very next ball. However, there was no late drama as Karunaratne hit the winning runs to cap off the match with a ball to spare. Kusal Mendis, the classy half-centurion, remained unbeaten till the end. Stick around for the presentations..
