So, the wicket was a coffer for the batsmen. They knew they would be rich on this wicket but no one had an idea how much richer. In the end, the run feast was convincingly triumphed by the Lankans. Poor bowlers had a forgettable outing. But Bangladesh's poor run at home, first the tri-series, then the Tests and now this shellacking. Time for them to step up and turn the tides. Lanka though on their part have done well to arrest the slide in the shorter formats. On that note, this is Kumar Abhisekh Das taking a leave on behalf of Vineet Anantharaman and Sriram.

Kusal Mendis, Man of the Match: I am very very happy. The coaching staff have helped me a lot for this game. I was told to play my natural game and consume less balls. That worked for me.

Dinesh Chandimal: We never thought this wicket was this good. It was a good toss to lose. Credit goes to the bowlers and batters, they played some outstanding cricket. We always thought before the game, that we will maintain the right hand - left hand combination. We want to play some competitive cricket. We never underestimate this Bangladesh team at home.

Mahmudullah: Probably we were 10-15 runs short. We should have scored over 200. But the bowlers did not execute their lengths well. They batted well. We started well and did well in the middle overs. But credit goes to them, they batted really well. But on a belter like this, if you don't execute your lengths, you will be punished.

Earlier in the evening, Bangladesh on the back of fifties from Rahim and Sarkar scaled their highest total in T20Is. Their skipper Mahmudullah also came came good with a fine cameo to keep the runs going. But from being 100 for 1 in 10 overs to 193 for 5 in 20 overs, in hindsight, was never going to be enough. The bowlers from both sides looked for a hiding throughout. The Lankans have also broken their jinx of 8 consecutive losses in T20Is. Hang on for the awards and the words from the skippers.

Bangladesh have been annihilated here. They have been pulverised into a tap-out. This ain't a game of wrestling. But Lanka have been Big Show today. Chasing 194, they came out all guns blazing after a quiet first over. Kusal Mendis registered a quick fire fifty off 25 balls and set the tone for the fireworks later. Then despite a brief spell where the Islanders lost a couple of wickets, the scoring rate refused to stay quiet. Shanaka and Perera performed the final rites with a thrill-a-minute ride partnership of 65 off 30 balls.

16.4

Rubel to Shanaka, 1 run, done and dusted! Lanka go 1-0 up in the series and have swatted aside the target of 194 with some style. This is their highest chase in T20Is. The final ball: short of length delivery outside off and was patted away with soft hands into the off-side for quick single. A direct hit at the batter's end would have delayed the formalities. But Bangladesh missed the mark, in tune with their day on the field, and that was it

16.4

Rubel to Shanaka, 5 wides, more wides..more agony..The bumper ushered in and the ball jumps over the keeper and the batsman for some sundries. The scores are level now

16.3

Rubel to Perera, 1 run, yorkerish delivery and has been driven out into the covers for a single. Only a shot away now. Sixer to finish?

16.2

4

Rubel to Perera, FOUR, the crowd continues its mute mode. The length ball delivered and the boundary delivered as well. The batsman backed away and creamed the pick up shot into the on-side between long-on and deep mid for a four

16.1

Rubel to Shanaka, 1 run, mistimes the heave and the ball hardly scaled any distance into the on-side. Only a single as the bowler himself mops the ball up running towards the mid-wicket region

16.1

Rubel to Shanaka, wide, radars the ball down leg and has been wided. So many wides on a flat deck. The bowlers have not helped their own cause either

Rubel Hossain [3.0-0-39-1] is back into the attack

15.6

Afif Hossain to Perera, SIX, new balls please! That has been kissed by the curse of oblivion. Short ball again as the length was dragged down and the batsman stayed put in his crease and used the long levers to dispatch the ball over cow corner for six more. 13 more needed

15.5

4

Afif Hossain to Perera, FOUR, short ball, bad ball, put away. The batsman hung back in his crease and pulled the ball away past deep mid for a four

15.4

Afif Hossain to Perera, 2 runs, backs away and pile drives the ball down the ground. The man at long-on slides across the turf to save a few runs for his team

15.3

Afif Hossain to Shanaka, 1 run, superb stop from the man at short third man as the reverse sweep was struck well enough. They still decide to steal a single and are successful

15.2

Afif Hossain to Perera, leg byes, 1 run, fires the ball on to the pads and the whirlwind bat does not make contact. The ball crawls away into the on-side after striking the pads. Single nabbed

15.1

Afif Hossain to Perera, no run, stays leg side of the flattish ball and pushes the ball out into the off-side

Afif Hossain [1.0-0-13-1] is back into the attack
