SCO VS SL - 1st ODI, Sri Lanka tour of Scotland, 2019

Scotland vs Sri Lanka

Match abandoned without a ball bowled (No toss)

15:44 Local Time, 20:14 IST: The first ODI has been abandoned. Such a shame. It was almost a sell-out at Edinburgh and the crowd had turned up in large numbers. They even waited patiently, but all that goes in vain. The captains were forced to shake hands. No cricketing action today - not even the toss and the ugly timestamps tell you the sorry tale. The second ODI will be played at the same venue on Tuesday. I don't want to talk about the forecast anymore. Let's hope that the weather doesn't play spoilsport. Goodbye!

15:03 Local Time, 19:33 IST: @CricketScotland tweets: "A further inspection will take place at 15:30."

It's 14:45 and the umpires have walked out to the middle. A shortened game on the cards? Let's hope so.

14:23 Local Time, 18:53 IST: The rain has stopped. And, there will be an inspection at 14:45.

13:45 Local Time, 18:15 IST: It's still raining. FYI, the cut-off time for a 20-over encounter is 16.17 local.

12:45 Local Time, 17:15 IST: There will be a pitch inspection at 13:30 local. Oh well, scratch the previous update. The rain is back! Urgh..

12:26 Local Time, 16:56 IST: More positive news. It has stopped raining now.

12:09 Local Time, 16:39 IST: The latest tweet from Cricket Scotland: "The rain has eased off at The Grange. Ground-staff BI0$to dry the outfield ready for play."

11:50 Local Time, 16:20 IST: The rain has eased a bit in Edinburgh. The groundsmen are out to start their mopping up work.

11:00 Local Time, 15:30 IST: No positive update. It's still raining, albeit lightly. The frustrating wait continues...

10:00 am local | 02:30 pm IST: “Play will not begin at 11am whilst we wait for the outfield to dry,” tweets Cricket Scotland.

Hello and welcome to the first clash of the 2-match ODI series between Scotland and Sri Lanka. After losing a rain truncated match against Afghanistan few days back, Scotland are ready to face the challenge against the Lankan Lions. While the Asian team will consider these couple of matches as practice games before the World Cup, few of the Scotland players will consider it as an opportunity to get some runs, take few wickets and gain some confidence. It was a great batting effort by Koetzer and MacLeod against the Afghan team, but can they repeat the same against Lanka? Or will it be someone else? There is forecast for rain in Edinburgh, so we might have a few interruptions through the course of this match. Toss and teams are not far away, stay tuned in for all the action.
