PLAYER OF THE MATCH : Dwaine Pretorius
Batter
Bowler
That's it from this game. Tharanga keeps insisting during post-match talks how the batting needs to improve but not much has happened on that front. Wonder how the Lankans will get out of the misery! On that note, this is Abhishek Chaudhary bidding goodbye along with Sriram and Naga
Dwaine Pretorius: "I am just glad I could contribute to the team today. It was a great day for me. Bowlers backed me up. At the Wanderers there is always something for the bowlers. It was my first game playing for the Proteas here. I am just glad it came off good."
Dwaine Pretorius is the Man of the Match
de Villiers: "I think the crowd was amazing. We did not score three hundred and did not hit enough sixes but achieved what we wanted to; first: win the series and then support the cause against breast cancer. I will be honest, the wicket was two-paced and it would have been much closer had they scored 100 more. It was very important to bowl them out under 40 overs. I am watching the ball well and it was good to get some runs. Things like these take off the focus (bee invasion) but the guys kept the focus and took wickets. The focus was to play good cricket. It is important to give a couple of new guys some chance in the next games."
Upul Tharanga: "I think we are a good side. Dickwella batted well but did not get much support. Bowlers gave their 200 percent. We dropped some catches and that cost us. Still two games to go. Like I said earlier, our main concern is batting. We have got good starts but have not made use of that."
20:43 Local Time, 18:43 GMT, 00:13 IST: What an easy one for the hosts. Have pocketed the series 3-0 with two matches to go. Completely dominated the proceedings after opting to bowl. Sri Lankan batting let them down again. Never had enough runs to stop this mighty South African batting line-up. The pitch did not quite play like the typical Wanderers track but for the pitch factor to come into play, Sri Lanka needed at least 100 more on the board. There cannot be any excuse for getting bowled out under 40 overs. Sri Lanka need to improve a lot. After bring drubbed in the Test series, they had bounced back in T20Is, promising a thrilling ODI series. That has not happened. We just hope that they play with more freedom in the next two matches given the fact that the series is already done and dusted. Cricket needs better competitive cricket. Not the kind of we saw today. Stay tuned for the presentations...
