17:18 Local Time, 21:18 GMT, 02:48 IST: That just about wraps it up then. A comprehensive win for the West Indies, in spite of struggling against spin and revealing the lack of wicket-taking deliveries in the armouries of the Sri Lankan bowlers, despite assistance from the wicket. They targeted their bowlers, paced their chase well, and controversially got involved in a bit of shrewd cricket that eventually resulted in a thumping 8-wicket win to go 1-0 up in the 3-match series - with two more to come on Friday and Sunday. This is Rishi, signing off from Cricbuzz, alongside Sagar, Akshay and Venkatesh. Off to bed, tut tut!
Kieron Pollard | West Indies captain: The way we batted, the way Shai batted, was amazing. The partnerships were impressive and it shows that we planned and came out with good execution. The guys upped the intensity on the field after they were 100-0 and eventually that push at the top ensured that we stifled their batting innings. Shai is an incredible player, the guys can bat around him and we have a lot of clarity about his role in the side. He has been fantastic in one-day cricket and he has our full support. I think the way we fielded was good but there were a few fumbles. Overall, however, we were quite good and us older players need to lead the way and set an example.
Dimuth Karunaratne | Sri Lanka captain: We got a nice start but lost a few wickets, especially the run-outs, so that was crucial. We were short of 30-40 runs, and me and Danushka could have batted longer - it would've been a different story. 230 is not a good score, and they didn't panic at all in the chase, that's why we needed 280+. Gunathilaka got out at the wrong time and that was a key wicket triggering the collapse.
Shai Hope: Just (love) batting. Honestly like spending time out in the middle and bat for long. The key is just staying out as long as possible for the team and to bring the game home, I wasn't able to do it today but that is the aim. Just trust my ability, understand the situation and try to negate the threat they throw at us. All of them bowled well in spells, obviously Hasaranga is their main threat and I think we played him pretty well and made sure we didn't give him any wickets. Thanks for the information, I didn't know (on being the 8th WI player to score 10 ODI tons). It is a great feeling. I want to score as many runs as possible for the team and win as many games as I can. Being away from the game for so long, that's all you pretty much know, the main thing is to be out there playing the game. It was great to be back.
17:05 Local Time, 21:05 GMT, 02:35 IST: It was comprehensive. It was a bit of a stretch to take it into the 47th over, with only two wickets down, but they got there in the end. A giant opening stand between Lewis and Hope, who switched roles today, set the platform for the chase, before Lewis was sent back by Chameera - by far the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers. Hope then dropped anchor and stitched together a stand with Bravo, getting to his 10th ODI hundred in the process, only to be dismissed when the target was in sight. Mohammed and Bravo sealed it in the end, against a Sri Lankan bowling attack that lacked wicket-taking penetration, with the exception of Chameera. Presentations coming up in a bit.
