Right then, that leaves both these sides nearly a week's time before the 2nd Test at the Gabba. Just a reminder that it's a Day/Night Test so that's definitely something to look forward to. The West Indies will hope to turn up with a much better and tighter batting performance while Australia will hope to keep doing the things they're doing so well. That's it from us then, this is Anurag Hegde signing off on behalf of Abhinav Guha, Saurabh Shankar and Praveen Kumar. Take care and goodbye.
It would be cruel to close things out without a mention of Shamar Joseph. He was simply fantastic on debut. In a rather glum Test, he was the shining light for the West Indies. Not only did he pick up wickets, five of them mind you, but he also scored valueable runs. There's no doubt that West Indies have found a real gem.
Pat Cummins | Australian captain: Great Test match. It was a wicket where you always felt like one would leap and could get even a set batter out. Travis Head set it up for us, don't think anyone else gt over 50. Hazlewood was on fire, he got it done in just one spell.
Kraigg Brathwaite | West Indies captain: We thought the bowlers did really well. Batting wise, we didn't bat well, we didn't get going in both innings. As batsmen, it was about getting a feel of Test cricket, a feel of how it is to play against the number 1 side. Its important for them to learn and learn fast. He's (Shamar Joseph) a guy full of energy, he has a great vision and skill. He's done a good job.
Travis Head | Player of the Match: It was challenging through parts, lucky the experience came through. Nice to get some runs this summer. Great crowd, hope everyone enjoyed it.
Josh Hazlewood: Nice to have the weekend off. It was nice to bowl on a wicket like that. (On whether he’s ever bowled any better) Probably not, I felt I bowled well in the first part of the summer without much reward. I think the wickets throughout have been really good. (On Shamar Joseph) Amazing debut, very impressive and to start off by getting Smithy first ball is just great. (On next time) Last time in Brisbane, going to be a bit weird. The new ball will play a big part in that game as well, so I'm excited for that game.
11:49 Local Time, 01:19 GMT, 06:49 IST: A clinical performance from the Australians through and through, they wrap this game up well inside three days. Little unfortunate for poor Usman Khawaja to get struck that hard just before Australia won, he'll not feel too good about that. But as a side, Australia have shown few faults. They bowled brilliantly in both innings and with a bit of assistance from the surface and an inexperienced batting order in front of them, they blew the West Indies out. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers as he ended with 9 wickets in the game. Don't forget Travis Head's magnificient hundred as well in the first innings, that's actually what bailed Australia out of a bit of trouble and got them a sizeable first innings lead. The game ending in three days came down to the application of the West Indies batters or rather, the lack thereof. Understandably, they have a young and inexperienced batting line-up but they would've still expected themselves to do a lot better than they did here. As for the Steve Smith experiment, we'll have to wait till the Gabba to fully see what results it yields.
Shamar Joseph to Labuschagne, 1 run, that'll do for Australia, banged in short outside off, Labuschagne gets on top of the bounce and pulls it down to deep backward square leg. Australia win by 10 wickets
Shamar Joseph to Labuschagne, no run, good length delivery that just slips down the leg-side, Labuschagne gets inside the line looking to glance it fine and misses
Khawaja looks a little dazed as the physio rushes out, he feels his jaw a couple of times. Spits out a bit of blood too, looks like he bit his tongue hard. Sensible thing and Khawaja is walking off
Shamar Joseph to Khawaja, no run, oh that's struck Khawaja right on the helmet! Banged in short and directed right at the helmet, Khawaja took his eyes off it and turned his head away as it came awkwardly, looked like it missed the grille and struck him on the chin
Shamar Joseph to Khawaja, no run, oh jaffa! Just short of a good length outside off, Khawaja went across looking to defend and was beaten as it straightened off the deck, bit of zip and extra bounce too
