That's a wrap of the first game then. Two KKR boys, one former and the other - a current hot property of the franchise, closing the game in a fitting fashion and a Player of the Match performance from the debutant. The script couldn't have been any better. Can the Windies storm a comeback? Join us on Friday to find out. Same time, same place. Until then, it's a goodbye from Raju Peethala, Akshay Maanay, Vineet Anantharaman and our sharp-eyed scorer Mukesh Gowda. Cheers!!

Ravi Bishnoi, Player of the Match: Feeling better now (no nerves). It's a dream to play for India and it felt good. I was nervous at the start but wanted to contribute for the team as we know West Indies is one of the strongest teams in T20 cricket. It's slightly a challenge to grip the ball when there's dew. I never thought about this (winning the MoM) but it's a dream come true moment for me.

Rohit Sharma, India skipper: Should have finished that off a little early, wanted to be clinical. Happy with the win and we can take a lot of confidence from this game. Restricting them to that score was a great effort from the bowlers. With the bat we were not clinical and it's something we can learn from. Bishnoi is a very talented guy which is why we drafted him into the squad straightaway. We see something different in him. He's got lot of variations and skill-set with him. He can bowl at any stage and it gives us a lot of options to rotate the other bowlers. Very happy with his first game for India and he's got a bright future and it's just about us now on how we use him. Someone like Shreyas Iyer is sitting out, very hard on him not making it to playing eleven, but we needed someone to bowl in the middle which is why we couldn't get him in. It's always nice with that kind of competition going around and a lot of the guys are missing out as well. I'm happy to have that kind of challenges rather than not having players available and not in form. We were very clear with Shreyas and we told him we want that option going into the World Cup. Guys do understand what the team wants and all these guys are professionals and they do understand that team comes first. Once everyone is available it's something we need to sit down and understand. Lots of things to take into consideration and sometimes it can be very tough on the guys missing out, but we want to make sure that we give out a clear message with guys performing needs to get that run and we want to put the team first. I have been talking to him (Ishan) for a long time now, when he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the middle order which wasn't his natural position. We saw in Chennai when the pitch was slow he wasn't able to get going, we just want to make sure that we give him that confidence with what he needs to do and look to find that odd boundary in the middle. It's just about rotating strike in the middle and with Ishan it's just about getting some game time and wearing the blue and playing for India, there's too much pressure. It's our job to make sure that whenever he steps in he's quite comfortable.

Kieron Pollard, West Indies skipper: Between overs 6-15 we only scored 46 in 9 overs and if we had 18-20 more runs during that phase it would have been competitive. After six overs they were in front, but I thought the bowlers and fielders did really well to pull things back. Different times calls for different things, they have quality bowlers and we have to play it as we see it. The guys are working hard to get things right and again it's just a matter of setting it up properly. The ball was wet and the bowlers were bowling high full tosses and I wanted them to have a fair share to execute. Having said that, it was a very, very good game of cricket.

Suryakumar Yadav: Looking at the dew, Rishabh and me decided to hit square because the outfield was very quick. I like batting anywhere, but today it was different and I badly wanted to finish the game. Glad to win and stay not out. Very important for Venkatesh, when he came in the difference was just eight runs, so I told him there was no need for any fancy stroke. Just asked him to play good shots and good cricket and really happy with the way he played. Their spinners bowled beautifully. It turned with bounce and gripped. With heavy dew it was very difficult for them to grip it and it was advantageous for us.

Ind vs WI in T20Is
2009-17: Mat 8 | Ind won 2 | WI won 5 | NR 1
Since 2018: Mat 10 | Ind won 9* | WI won 1
- WI have won only one out of their last 12 T20Is away from home.

22:48 local: The scorecard might suggest it was an easy chase, but India were made to sweat after the first five overs as the spinners got stuck into Ishan Kishan who failed to find boundaries, and inevitably allowed the required rate to shoot over 8.5. At one point, the hosts didn't have a boundary for 27 balls, and it needed the arrival of Suryakumar Yadav to regain some momentum and get ahead of the game while at it. Despite the stutter in the middle-order, SKY and Venkatesh Iyer put in the finishing touches with 23 runs off 2 overs from Cottrell and Shepherd. All said and done, India will not be particularly happy with their approach against spin as they allowed 9 successive overs of spin through the middle overs, struggling to find boundaries and gifting 2 wickets while attempting to slog their way out of trouble. Presentations imminent, stick around....

Fabian Allen to Venkatesh Iyer, SIX, Venkatesh Iyer, the KKR boy, may not have played an IPL game here but he will relish this moment for a long, long time and has perhaps put his stamp of authority with a thumping blow into the mid-wicket orbit. It was full and at the pads, Iyer nails it for maximum to take India 1-0 up in the 3-match series.

18.4

Fabian Allen to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, full on off, wristed away through mid-wicket

18.3

4

Fabian Allen to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, too full and too quick - SKY must have played Krunal Pandya a million times in the nets and Fabian Allen is no different in terms of the pace he bowls. Unleashes the bottom hand and smacks the drive in the gap between backward point and cover

18.2

Fabian Allen to Venkatesh Iyer, 1 run, jumps down the track, meets the ball on the full and powers it down to long-on

18.1

Fabian Allen to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, full on off-stump, SKY biffs the drive to the left of deep extra cover

Fabian Allen [1.0-0-10-1] is back into the attack

Shepherd to Venkatesh Iyer, FOUR, a full toss just outside off and Iyer tonks it back over the bowler for his second boundary. India just two hits away....

17.5

Shepherd to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, looks to pull a skiddy length delivery and gets it off the back of the bat before deflecting it into his arm. The physio is out to check on him and he looks totally fine....

17.4

Shepherd to Venkatesh Iyer, 1 run, looks to pull a short ball from outside off and gets a thick inside edge that rolls wide of the stumps towards square leg. Iyer wasn't sure where the ball went but heard SKY go "Jaa jaa jaa (run... run)" and sprinted to the other end

17.3

Shepherd to Venkatesh Iyer, 2 runs, slower and fuller outside off, Venkatesh Iyer hits it into his favourite zone - deep extra cover - on the ground with a crunching drive along the ground

17.2

Shepherd to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, nudges the slower length delivery to the right of deep mid-wicket

17.1

Shepherd to Venkatesh Iyer, 1 run, full at the stumps, driven down to long-on

Cottrell to Suryakumar Yadav, SIX, that should be the game for India. Suryakumar Yadav and fine leg fence - ah, it's a love affair. He loves using the pace of the bowlers and often targets that region with those elegant no-look pulls and scoops. Walks across, picks the short slower ball from outside leg and scoop-pulls it into the stands....
