So there we have it, in all fairness, nothing out of the ordinary and unexpected has happened as the Kiwis have sealed the series. Windies have nothing but pride to play for in the final ODI. And while there might not be anything at stake, it can still provide a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the T20s. Anyway, that's it from us here. Join us for the third ODI on December 26. Until then, this is Sriram signing off on behalf of Pratyush Sinha and Mukesh Gowda. Have a good night/day wherever you are!
Holder - captain, WI: "Obviously disappointed. We didn't play good enough cricket today. I thought it was a reasonable total to go and chase but we lost wickets upfront. We have to address issues with the bat. Need to put some runs on the bat, whether batting first or second."
Latham - captain, NZ: "I think Nicholls and Astle put on a good partnership. The way they started and put the foot down at the end was outstanding. The game was probably won there (when Boult picked those early wickets). I never dreamed of (captaining on my home ground) but the opportunity arrived. Hopefully we can put on another dominant performance on Boxing Day. Having bowlers who can bowl 150ks does make my job easier."
Boult - Player of the Match: "I think everyone says you just have those days but you can't pin it down to anything. There was a little bit of movement with the new ball. Getting seven wasn't something I was expecting. Somehow the intensity gets up when the white ball comes out. Obviously the batsmen try to hit you off your length. Today I just kept it simple. Tried to bowl a few short balls. Good to see such depth in the bowling stocks at the moment. Nice to see guys coming into the team and doing well. Lockie was very impressive. He's had a great summer in domestic cricket and he's come out here and continued it."
Windies' nightmare finally comes to an end. The writing was on the wall after the first innings; chasing a tall score of 326 was always going to be an herculean task and their batsmen just succumbed to the scoreboard pressure. Trent Boult was exceptional with the new cherry as well as towards the end, claiming a seven-fer - his best bowling figures in ODIs - and was well supported by Lockie Ferguson, who shared three spoils. None of the Windies' batsmen showed any application and just fell like a pack of cards.
17:23 Local Time: What a dominating performance from the Kiwis. Smiles and jubilation in the camp, Boult has the ball in hand and walks off to a rousing reception from the Christchurch crowd. Abject isn't the word to describe Windies' batting today. Their techniques have been exposed by a very skillful bunch of bowlers, led by Trent Boult.

Boult to Gabriel, out Bowled!! Done and dusted. Boult claims a seven-fer. Fittingly, caps off the innings with the last ball of his spell. New Zealand win by a massive margin of 204 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Well, Gabriel could last for just 2 deliveries. Boult swung this back in from a length and knocked the off-stump, even before Gabriel could bring his bat down. Blink and miss! Gabriel b Boult 0(2)
