Match called off. Handshakes. And hence, as a default, New Zealand win the series 2-0, and Mitchell Santner's captaincy debut lasts all of 14 legal balls. It was fun while it lasted though: Ferguson cranked it up, Mayers hit one stunning flick off his legs, King tonked one, edged one, and then sliced one down third man's throat. Yea, that was all. And that is all we have for you as well. Until Hamilton and the Tests, and hopefully lesser rain and more cricket, ta ta!!
Santner, NZ captain: Very happy with the way we went about our business. WI are a tough side, so to win 2-0 was very pleasing. It's a little bit disappointing; WI have come a long way, we had to do quarantine and stuff. So to not get a full series is a bit of a shame. Can take a lot of positives from the first two games. Different guys stepping in at different times. Very good player (Phillips). We've seen CPL and Super Smash back home - he's very destructive. The way he went about his business yesterday was world class. The way he kept going, even through the middle overs when it got a bit slow. A lot of time goes into scouting each player these days. Had a couple of guys in my team in the Barbados Tridents this year. Glenn has played against these guys a lot in CPL and had a pretty good read I guess. The leagues around the world, you play with different guys, definitely good for the game. Pleasing to win this, have another big series against Pakistan. Looking forward to the World Cup. Way the younger players stepped up is pleasing.
Pollard, WI captain: Obviously disappointed. Didn't expect to play this badly as a unit. Hopefully the guys from the Tests can get something from their time in NZ. Over the past decade or so, we've come here as a team and not really done well. Need a sort of self-introspection. From a fielding point of view, it's about the attitude. That's the time when you're actually 11 vs 2 on the park. As individuals we need a good look at ourselves in the mirror. This is international cricket. You don't want to be a laughing stock, certainly I don't want to. If guys will continue to show the attitude, some of us will be missing the boat for the World Cup.
Ferguson, Player of the Series: Very happy with how the boys played as a collective. Unfortunate with the rain today. Think I just had a good day out at Eden. Happens, have to run with those. IPL put me in good stead. The way boys are gelling at the moment. Youngsters coming through and asking questions of those playing for a while. Did put in a lot of work with the accuracy. Playing a lot of T20 helps to handle pressure. If you want to bowl fast, you want to have to bowl fast. Takes a mental attitude, and also good coaches to harness the speeds. It's an experience thing (variations in bowling). It's important with experience to learn what is working on the day.
21:17 Local Time, 08:17 GMT, 13:47 IST: The umpires are having another meeting with the head groundsman. And if body language is any giveaway, there's absolutely no hurry on either side. The players are busy clicking selfies with the few spectators who dared to stay back. Okay, the umpires are going back to talk to the captains now. Let's hope there some news ..
irshad: "i think windies lack a quality leg spinner. Is there any good leg spinner in windies domestic circuit?" -- There's good potential in Hayden Walsh, who's in their XI, although he hasn't made a great start in international cricket. But on the whole, they don't have too many options as far as leg spin goes.
Jimmy Neesham: It is tough getting out there, bowling and over and coming back especially with the warmups and all. But we try to stay mentally ready. Very pleased to be up 2-0, WI are a very good T20 team. As a batting unit we've done really well but there are things to work on as a bowling unit. Playing in front of crowds is great. Playing in front of 15 people in the IPL was a bit strange. Looking forward to the Pakistan series.
A gentle reminder in case you're wondering: In order to have a five-overs-a-side contest, we need to start by 21:48 local time | 14:18 IST.
20:44 Local Time, 07:44 GMT, 13:14 IST: The umpires are out there talking to the head groundsman. The bad news though, is that the umbrellas are back. Again, it's a very light drizzle, you know the kind that even the cameras fail to pick up. The square-cover, meanwhile, has stayed firmly on while some of the other groundsmen are busy removing the water that's accumulated on top of it. We've started losing overs around 30 minutes ago, and we lose one over every eight subsequent minutes. Do the math!
20:08 Local Time, 07:08 GMT, 12:38 IST: In case you're wondering why things **are not** moving ahead, there's a very, very slight drizzle that's stopping the groundsmen from taking the covers off. Had we been playing, the umpires wouldn't have stopped for such light rain, but given that we have stopped, we now can't get going until it completely stops. Yep, that's cricket logic for you.
Just an fyi: We're about 15 minutes away from losing overs.
19:53 Local Time, 06:53 GMT, 12:23 IST: Woohoo. It's stopped raining, the groundsmen are outside inspecting stuff. They've thrown away their umbrellas. There's just one square cover that they need to worry about. This outfield soaks really well.
19:45 Local Time, 06:45 GMT, 12:15 IST: In case you're looking for an update, well, surprise, surprise, there's none. It's still drizzling. Google's weather though says it should die down pretty quickly with a couple of drier hours on the horizon.
Rithvik: "How is the rain? What is the update?" -- Still raining
Sushant: To all the people who are adding players into WI T20 team let me tell you Bravo and Narine are not at all effective as bowlers as they were before. WI do not have any issues with their batting. They have a poor bowling attack.
Rathna: Yes, Windies have got all the guns, but they are still lacking something.T20 cricket is not all about power.
Ravindra Shah: @Mukul Katewa - Add Evin Lewis and Lendl Simmons to the list as well. Gayle/Simmons, Evin Lewis, Hetmyer, Pooran, Pollard, Russell, Bravo, Narine. Jeez the most dangerous team.
chandu: "Why DJ bravo isn't included in this squad such a great all rounder with 500 wickets?" -- He got injured in the IPL if you will remember.
19:22 Local Time: It's getting heavier. It's a long day ahead ..
19:18 Local Time, 06:18 GMT, 11:48 IST: You were warned. The drizzle is back, once again, very light, so much so that the players are happy standing by the boundary. But by earlier standards, this drizzle has forced the groundsmen to cover the entire square.
Bennett to Mayers, no run, another swing and a miss. This time to a delivery that's more back of a length, with Mayers looking to swat flat-batted through mid-wicket, only to miss it big time
Bennett to Mayers, no run, bouncer. Quick, sharp, over the shoulder as Mayers hooks and misses
Hamish Bennett, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack
Mukul Katewa: Think Gayle, Russell, Narine, Bravo in this lineup. Then they have a very good side, they are t20 legends.
There's a wind blowing across the ground, and we're told it's the rain wind. Be warned!

Ferguson to Andre Fletcher, no run, okay, no more drama. Back of a length, outside off, Fletcher shoulders arms
Param shah: I am really hoping to see West Indies, India and South Africa not getting white washed all together as it will be disheartening to see three white washes at the same time.
Ferguson to Andre Fletcher, FOUR .. causes an error, draws a nick, but ends up leaking four. Sheer pace this, something Fletcher's clearly late to as he hangs his bat out tentatively. But the ball seams in, takes the inside edge and flies past the flying keeper
