So then, lot of sharing going around with the awards. Klaasen and Hope share the Player of the Series award while both teams share the series itself 1-1. Although this series wasn't of great importance in the grand scheme of things, both teams will have a lot of takeaways heading onwards in ODI cricket. Very important series coming up for South Africa against the Netherlands, that starts in about 10 days' time. That's all we've got for you today. Until next time, take care and goodbye.
Aiden Markram | South Africa captain: Worked out really well in the end, very special knock from Klaasen and well supported by Jansen when it was needed. It's a great way of looking at it, there will be a situation where conditions will be different but Temba (Bavuma) and the coach encouraged us to play our game. There was pretty simple feedback coming into this game, we wanted to stick to tight lines and not over-pitching it to them. We did well with the ball today. Jansen is nailing down the learning process, he was upset when he got out today. We had a chat regarding World Cup qualification, nice to have a win here but our next game is almost a week away.
Shai Hope | West Indies captain and shared Player of the series: Not our day today, they clearly outplayed us. Thought we batted well but our bowling fell apart. We just didn't hit our straps today, they outplayed us today and we only ourselves to blame. I thought we were in the game but we didn't bowl as well as we needed to. You have to keep learning on the job, we don't focus on the negatives too much but we want to keep doing the job well. I wish the guys the best for the next series. You go out there and do your best every time you turn up for the West Indies.
Heinrich Klaasen | Player of the match and shared Player of the series: Pretty good wicket, probably one of my better knocks and am really proud of it. We were trying to play conditions and not the situations, conditions were fantastic today. Took Joseph on today and it was my day today. The conditions dictate how aggressive you can play and conditions were great today. Test cricket is hard, I ponder every time I make a mistake. I never doubt myself, I was hitting the ball well in the nets and I calmed everything down; the confidence stays up. I'm riding the wave at the moment and would like to keep it going. Always a good feeling to get the team over the line, very pleased to play a knock like this.
STAT: Best ODI strike-rates for SA (min. 1,000 runs):
Heinrich Klaasen: 104.05
David Miller: 102.17
AB de Villiers: 101.27
Farhaan Behardien: 97.90
Quinton de Kock: 96.43
South Africa's run-rate of 8.95 today was their best ever in a successful ODI run-chase of 200 or more, bettering their 8.78 from the world-record 435-run chase (438/9 from 49.5 overs) against Australia at the Wanderers, Johannesburg in 2006.
16:44 Local Time, 14:44 GMT, 20:14 IST: My my, to knock 261 off inside 30 overs was some effort and Heinrich Klaasen deserves all the credit in the world for coming up with that gem of an innings. Chasing a modest total, South Africa found themselves in trouble at 87-4 and it looked like the Windies had got the series in the bag. Klaasen had other ideas though, a little partnership with Miller got them back on track and once Jansen joined him at the crease, carnage unleashed. With the side on 142-5 in the 19th over, Klaasen would've been forgiven if he took the safer approach but he made sure everyone in the crowd left feeling entertained. The ball disappeared to all parts and the Windies spinners, in particular, got more than they bargained for today. Jansen played an excellent second-fiddle, he himself played with great confidence and freedom to allow Klaasen to play his natural game. The West Indies were left scratching their heads, South Africa tore away and ahead before they could really take stock of the situation and it was over before they knew it. Stick around, presentations coming up soon.
Cariah to Klaasen, FOUR, how about that to finish it off! A real statement this from Heinrich Klaasen! Floated up full on off, Klaasen smacks it straight back over the bowler to end it in style. South Africa win by 4 wickets.
Cariah to Klaasen, FOUR, Klaasen sure is in a hurry to get this done, full on leg-stump, Klaasen leans in and sweeps it up and over backward square leg to collect four more, just 1 needed now
Cariah to Klaasen, SIX, length delivery on middle, Klaasen presses back and heaves it over the deep mid-wicket fence, a touch too short and it was punished
Yannic Cariah [3.0-0-35-0] is back into the attack
