That's all from our side from this game. We'll be back in a couple of days with the live coverage of the second T20I, so do join us! For now, goodbye and good night!
Rovman Powell | WI captain: It's important to take an early lead in Sri Lanka. They are an excellent team at home. The toss is always going to be vital. You got to stay on top for as long as possible. I am a captain who believes in individual performances. The other members will gel and help them get over the line. We want players to play their natural game. It's a combination that has worked well for us.
Charith Asalanka | SL captain: I should give credit to their batters, but I think we could have bowled better in the powerplay. I am still experimenting, wanted a few overs from Chamindu, it didn't work today. Will try other bowlers in the next match. The plus point is that we are playing good cricket. We have to do well and improve our bowling in the powerplay. That's the main concern as a captain.
Brandon King | PoTM: My role is to get the team off to a good start. It came out well as it was a good wicket. It's more mental than anything else. Been out for a couple of months, but glad to be back on the field. I think the pitch got better. You had to have a good powerplay while chasing 180. Our role as openers was to get the team off to a good start.
23:03 Local Time, 17:33 GMT, 23:03 IST: West Indies win by 5 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series. Chasing a stiff target of 180, the Windies openers got them off to a brisk start as both of them attacked the bowlers right from the outset. King scored a few boundaries to start off, while Lewis struck some lusty sixes to put the Sri Lankan bowlers under pressure. King made good use of his feet throughout the innings and notched up a quick fifty. Lewis too notched up a half-century, but both the openers were dismissed following that. Sri Lanka tried to pull things back by taking a few wickets after that 100-run stand between the openers. West Indies' run rate dipped in the middle overs, however, Chase kept his cool and kept the scoreboard ticking by taking singles, twos and the occasional boundaries. Rutherford played sensibly towards the end and made sure West Indies get over the line in the 20th over. Pathirana took a couple of wickets, but the other Sri Lankan bowlers struggled today. Stay around for the presentations..
Pathirana to Rutherford, FOUR, Rutherford hits the winning runs! Pitched up by the bowler and Rutherford lofts it over wide mid-off and the ball trickles away to the boundary. Handshakes all around as the visitors get over the line in the 20th over
West Indies need 4 runs off 6 balls. Can Pathirana do something magical?

Asitha Fernando to Rutherford, 2 runs, into the blockhole, Rutherford squeezes it through mid-wicket and takes a couple of runs more
Asitha Fernando to Rutherford, 2 runs, full and quick outside off, Rutherford lofts it over the infield at cover and Kamindu in the deep stops it with a dive to his left, saves a couple of runs

Equation: West Indies need 13 runs in 2 overs.. Super over anyone? Do we have a thriller on the cards?
