Match abandoned without a ball bowled (no toss)
02:15 pm local | Match has been abandoned! Third consecutive international game washed out. The match between Afghanistan and Scotland got abandoned without a ball bowled yesterday while the England-Pakistan ODI ended in no result as only 19 overs were bowled. There was forecast for rain in this match too and it was bang on. If it was a light drizzle that kept the covers on, in the morning, it soon started pelting down and more covers were brought on thereafter. This is the first washed out game of the tri-series though and both teams share a point each. Bangladesh move to the number 1 spot while Ireland remain at number 3, just that they've managed to open their account. The hosts play their next match against West Indies at the same venue. See you on Saturday, hopefully with some action involved. Slán leat.
1:50 pm local | 06:20 pm IST:: The next inspection will be at 2:30 pm and the umpires might take a call if there's any play possible today. Looking at the weather conditions, it's unlikely.
Riyasat Ali: Continuously waiting since last one and half hour for the toss to happen, so that I could finalise my fantasy team. But looks like it won't happen soon. (Please post regardless of grammatical mistakes, if any) -- None, well done.
Samir Saifullah from Bangladesh: The rain has ruined the day, but not worried about it because Bangladesh will take the place on the top of the table. :)
12:26 Local Time | 04:56 pm IST: The drizzle is no more a drizzle and it has started raining heavily. We'll have to wait for longer it seems.
Jesal Trivedi: With weather forecast so accurate, the board should not schedule the matches when it is supposed to rain. It's a waste of so much of energy, time and money.
11:45 am local | 04:15 pm IST: I'm afraid we might have to wait a bit longer as there seems to be a steady drizzle at the ground.
Sajon: I am waiting since morning for the game. -- Patience is the name of the game.
Nikhil: With such rainy weather all the time the ECB and the Irish boards should make stadiums with convertible roof. Then we will have more games and not so much waiting all the time.
We are hearing the next inspection is @ 11:45 am local provided the rain stops by then.
10:42 am local | 03:12 pm IST: Uh-oh! Looks like we are set for another delay as it started to rain during the course of inspection. More updates as and when we have it, fingers crossed.
10:26 am local | 02:56 pm IST: It was raining a while ago, but the weather seems just fine for now with the square firmly under covers. And that means we have a delayed toss.
09:45 am local | 02:15 pm IST: West Indies won the tri-series opener by a huge margin against Ireland but the men in maroon got a taste of their own medicine from Bangladesh a couple of days back. Mortaza and his boys thumped Windies by 8 wickets as they made a mockery of the run chase. Hello and welcome to the third match of the series as hosts Ireland face Bangladesh in Dublin today. They had a tough time in the first match as Windies openers (Hope and Campbell) were involved in a record partnership. That would have hampered the team’s confidence but today Ireland have got a chance to regain that confidence. A good effort by the Irish bowlers would definitely be appreciated. Can they contain the opposition and make this tri-series interesting? We shall find that out as the day unfolds. There are predictions of rain through the course of this match, so we might be in for a truncated game. We shall give you the updates on the toss and teams in a bit..

Ireland are a proud cricketing team. The last thing they'd want, as hosts of the ongoing tri-series, is to be reduced to being the whipping boys who'll offer practice for the World Cup-bound West Indies and Bangladesh. They were already smashed in the tournament opener by West Indies by a massive margin of 196 runs and their bid to make a strong comeback is not going to be easy. Bangladesh themselves have made a great start with a convincing win over the West Indies, which only compounds the task on hand for the home side.
For starters, Ireland will look to be more disciplined with the ball. Their seamers were carted around by John Campbell and Shai Hope who went onto stitch a record 365-run opening partnership. And with Bangladesh's top-three registering half-centuries on Monday (May 7), a repeat could well on the cards if Ireland continue to be erratic with the ball. It will be interesting to see if the change in venue plays into the home side's hands.
Among the batsmen, Paul Stirling will be looking to make amends following his first-ball duck against West Indies. Only Kevin O'Brien and to an extent, Gary Wilson and Andrew Balbirnie looked comfortable in that encounter and they will need more support this time around to counter a spin attack that conceded just 71 runs in their 20 overs against West Indies. Mustafizur Rahman on the other hand, will have to recover after his horror show on Monday that saw him leak 84 runs in his quota.
With Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar and Shakib Al Hasan enjoying a good outing with the bat, will the visitors get tempted to give their middle order a go against the Irish bowlers? Or will Shakib continue to bat at three which could well be their plan going into the global event in England?
When: Ireland vs Bangladesh, 3rd Match, 10:45 AM local | 3.15 PM IST
Where: The Village, Dublin
What to expect: There could be brief spells of shower at the start and again during the run chase. Temperatures are expected to remain cool and that might encourage the Irish seamers after their poor outing in the first game.
