Bangladesh started favourites, threatened to run away with the game, let Zimbabwe come back, had to then endure two frustrating rain breaks, but they've started well and have gone 1-0 up. Zimbabwe though will believe that they can pack a punch if their batting does better in the next match. We'll be back at the same venue on Sunday for the 2nd game of the series. For now, cheers and bye..
Najmul Shanto - Everyone played well today, all the bowlers were excellent, but we can still learn from this game and come back well in the next match. Last couple of days, we trained very hard and I hope that Tanzid continues his form. It's difficult, but we can't control those things, the thing we can control is our process. Towhid showed a lot of character and I'm happy with the way Tanzid finished the innings.
Taskin Ahmed | Player of the Match - We had a great win today, great start with our bowling, did the basics well and that's why we got the reward. Each and everyone is working hard to improve, they give 110% in the training and that showed today.
Sikandar Raza - It's true (on the seniors failing), but it's a responsibility for everyone to accept that they got it wrong. A lot of seniors went missing, we depend heavily on them in batting and they missed out, but hopefully, we'll get back better in the next game. We take pride in playing aggressive cricket, Clive (Madande) and Wellington (Masakadza) did that well, it wasn't their role, but they did the job manfully. We bat until 8, Luke (Jongwe) comes in there, we have good batters, we just need 3-4 guys to come up well, good partnerships and we can get to 180-190 every game. We have floodlights back in Harare Sports Club, we're used to fielding under lights, we had a session yesterday here as well (talking about the dropped catches). If we had got Tanzid out when he was on 4, we could have had a different game today.
22:21 Local Time, 16:21 GMT, 21:51 IST: A convincing win for Bangladesh and they take a 1-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series. The match was lost for the visitors when they slipped to 41 for 7, but they did fight hard to take the game deep. Madande and Masakadza added 75 for the 8th wicket to give them some hope. Then Blessing Muzarabani struck early to give them a better chance, but the visitors will rue dropping Tanzid twice in the 4th over - those reprieves cost them dearly as the left-hander made them pay. In his debut T20I innings, Tanzid remained unbeaten on a 47-ball 67, added vital partnerships with captain Shanto and then with Towhid Hridoy to take his team home, despite two rain delays. Zimbabwe were disciplined with the ball, but the mistakes in the field meant they hardly had a chance to put any pressure on the hosts.
