IRE VS ZIM - 1st T20I, Zimbabwe tour of Ireland, 2019

Ireland vs Zimbabwe

Match abandoned without a ball bowled (no toss)

It's official, match has been abandoned. Although the rain has stopped, the ground is not fit enough to play any cricket on, reckon the match officials. There are two more T20Is remaining in the series though. So, see you on Friday (July 12) for the second T20I of the series... Goodbye for now!

02:25 pm local: The drizzle continues and so does our wait.. Match heading towards a wash-out as 03:45 pm local is the cut-off time for a 5-over contest.

01:28 pm local time: Just as things were looking promising, the rain has returned. So, the wait continues..

"Another inspection by the umpires will be conducted at 12.40pm," is the latest tweet from Cricket Ireland.

12:15 pm local time: There's a steady drizzle at the moment and there is forecast for rain for the rest of the day too. Lets keep our fingers, hopefully we get to witness some T20 action today.

Ireland were fantastic in the ODI series but that counts for nothing now as the action shifts to the T20 series. There is a T20 World Cup scheduled next year and both teams will be aspiring to be a part of it after missing out in the ODI World Cup. So, it is about time these two teams start building their team for that tournament. This series comes as a great opportunity to do it. Toss and team sheets in a bit.
