Scotland go 1-0 up in the 2-match series. Join us back for the next game on Saturday from the same venue. Zimbabwe will be hungry to square the series. Until then, it's a goodbye from all of us down here.
The rain did relent and the players walked back with seven overs trimmed and Zimbabwe's target was 299. Williams continued from where he left, going after the Scottish bowling attack. He brought up his 25th ODI fifty and was coasting along nicely with Waller. But, once the southpaw was dismissed by Berrington, the result was heading towards one destination - a Scotland win. But that wasn't to be the case. Waller's knock of 92 off just 62 deliveries almost took Zimbabwe towards a miraculous win. His dismissal will be a topic of debate as Sole had made contact with the rope when he caught the ball. However, it's time for the Scotland team to celebrate.
A historic moment for Scotland as they register their first ever ODI win against a Test playing nation. They dominated for the major portion of the match, but that extraordinary innings from Waller would have scared the bejusus out of them. However, they held onto their nerve to win a thriller. After opting to bat, the in-form batsman, captain Kyle Coetzer, led from the front. He saw off the tricky periods and notched up his fourth ODI ton with a strike rate greater than 100. The platform was well set for the lower order to go berserk at the death. Wallace and Leask did exactly that by putting on a 83-run stand for the sixth wicket in just 52 balls that ensured a 300+ score. The job was only half done as the deck was a batting beauty. Zimbabwe did get off to a good start posting 52 in the first ten overs. Just when they were going along nicely, two of their experienced batsmen threw their wickets away. First, a hara-kiri running saw the end of Masakadza and a loose shot led to the downfall of Ervine. Williams came out with a positive intent, but Mire's wicket put the visitors behind the eight ball. Raza's run-out just before the rain interruption didn't help their cause any bit.
Safyaan Sharif to Chatara, out Caught by Chris Sole!! That's gone miles up in the air and it has been taken. Scotland win by 26 runs and go 1-0 up in the 2-match series. Chatara wanted to smash it out of the park with a mighty swing. All he managed was to toe-end it. The ball lobbed up and Sole at mid-off collects it. Chatara c Chris Sole b Safyaan Sharif 7(15)

Con de Lange to Waller, out Caught by Chris Sole!! Oh! An anti-climax. Waller perishes and misses his century by eight runs. But, what a knock he has played. Take a bow, Malcolm Waller. He dances down and slogs wildly. The ball looked like clearing the rope. But, Sole, at deep square leg, takes a fine catch. Waller doesn't want to leave. He gets a standing ovation from the crowd. Replays suggest that he made contact with the rope. The umpire doesn't spot it though. Waller c Chris Sole b Con de Lange 92(62) [4s-10 6s-5]
