Will Sri Lanka have a rethink of having Shanaka at 6? With this team combination the batting looks a bit thin and the tail bit too long. If only they had a bit more cushion with the bat they could have got the result going their way. But the biggest positives today will be Vandersay troubling with turn and the captain coming good with the bat. Zimbabwe are happy with their combo. The top-order gave them a brisk start and the middle-order solidfied on the base provided. The bowlers topped it up to round off a memorable win. So the series is 1-1 with a game on Friday. Join us back for the decider. Goodnight!

Craig Ervine | Zimbabwe captain | Player of the Match: With the seamers it (the pitch) was quite easy to bat. Vandersay got a bit more purchase. Certainly more in it for the spinners today. Our seamers did so well upfront getting those early wickets. We are very happy with how it (team combination) looks. We will back them to come and do the job in the third game. We were under a bit of pressure to come out and win today. I will take my hat off to the boys for showing the determination to win today.

Dasun Shanaka | Sri Lanka captain: When I went to the middle, myself and Kamindu didn't look at the scoreboard. The ball was coming on nicely in the first half of the game and then it was skiddy. We should come with better plans in the next game. Not much pressure. We didn't bowl well at the start. Unfortunately our top order didn't click. Hopefully both facets will do well next game.

Kamindu Mendis gave the captain great company and the duo stitched a 100+ stand to take the game deep. Zimbabwe were bowling spin, which allowed Sri Lanka to happily nudge around. But Ervine brought on his pacers and the pressure started to tell on Kamindu, out caught very well at mid-off. But Shanaka's composure at the other end was so good. He didn't play a rash shot. Only focused on nudging the ball in the gaps for ones and two and kept the asking rate in check with the occasional boundary. Got his maiden ODI hundred but was out next ball to a cleverly thought plan from Chatara - tempt a big hit by taking pace off with a short dangler. Shanaka fell in the trap and walked off gutted. Karunaratne tried to take this deep but was runout succumbing to pressure on a non-existent second run. And Zimbabwe tightened the screws immediately against the tail and sealed the game for a 22-run win.

22:36 Local Time, 17:06 GMT, 22:36 IST: They came close in the first game, they get over the line in the second game. What an effort from Zimbabwe despite not having a lot of game time in the pandemic. They chose to bat, put a solid total on the board, came out brilliant with the ball and stunned the hosts. After the showing in the first ODI, many thought Sri Lanka would hunt this down, but this was a different surface and not as batter-friendly. Chatara bowled a gem of a nip-backer to hit Kusal Mendis's top of off stump. Muzarabani and Ngarava chipped in to get Nissanka and Chandimal in no time. Three down inside eight overs. Asalanka was determined to counter attack but Madhevere got a dream offie's dismissal - again ball hitting top of off. Sri Lanka played a batter short, so it was Shanaka at No. 6. They needed their captain to contribute and boy, how good was he!
