So rain has the final say in this first ODI, but we still got to witness a brilliant century from Charith Asalanka who took his team to a good score after being in a difficult position. Sri Lanka then appeared to be on top with two early strikes from Madushanka in the run chase. However, the covers came on after just four overs and it continued to rain. That's all we have from here. Second ODI is on Monday. Until then, it's goodbye!

21:15 Local Time, 15:45 GMT, 21:15 IST: The match has been called off.

20:36 Local Time, 15:06 GMT, 20:36 IST: Still raining and prospects of a resumption look bleak. Cut-off time is 10.10pm local.

19:43 Local Time, 14:13 GMT, 19:43 IST: Some pictures shared online seem to show heavy rain and the covers firmly in place. This might be a fairly long delay.

19:09 Local Time, 13:39 GMT, 19:09 IST: This has come out of nowhere, it has started to rain. The covers are being rushed on but the players are not sprinting off suggesting that it isn't heavy. Just hearing that there might be concerns around lightning as well. Stick around, we'll keep you posted with the latest.

Madushanka to Ervine, out Caught by Sahan Arachchige!! Edged and gone! Madushanka is on fire, he has two in the over! Pitched up nice and full just outside off, again inviting the drive and it didn't need a second invitation, Ervine pushed at it, a healthy edge was found and it was a straightforward catch for first slip. The Zimbabwean skipper departs for nought as well. Ervine c Sahan Arachchige b Madushanka 0(4)

Madushanka to Kamunhukamwe, out Bowled!! He's gone for a golden duck! Good length delivery shaping back into off-stump, Kamunhukamwe was rooted to his crease as and he ended up playing it with an angled bat after trying to adjust for the swing which he clearly didn't anticipate but should have. It caught the inside edge and crashed back into his stumps. Not great technique there from Kamunhukamwe and Sri Lanka have struck early. Kamunhukamwe b Madushanka 0(1)
